You first have to take off the tire/wheel and set to the side. Then you will need to remove the castle nut on the end of the axle. I used a 1 1/16" closed end wrench. It's
probably a metric nut, but the SAE
wrench worked fine for me. Pull out the
cotter pin going through castle nut before you try to take off castle nut. Once the castle nut is off, remove the 8mm bolts from the drum cover. There are several places to pry the cover off all around the diameter of the cover. Once the cover is off you will see the brake drum. The drum should slide off the spline of the axle at this
point. If you have never removed the drum it will take a little bit of wiggling to loosen
it, but it should just slide off. Now you can see the brake pads. Remove them. I just pull them apart without regard for the
spring(s). Most brake pad sets come with
new springs. Now just re-install everything in the reverse fashion. Adjust accordingly with the use of the brake cable adjusters.
These are the spring loaded devices(2) on the inside of the right rear wheel. Hope
this helps. I had to figure it out on my own.
