Is the world ending on December 21st 2012?

Detailed answer: There are a few crackpots who claim that the ancient Mayans, a culture which apparently couldn't predict their own ending a couple of hundred years ago, believed that the world would end on or around the end of the year 2012 (there's some discrepancy here, because a lot of the people who have attempted to convert Mayan calendar dates to Gregorian (the kind we use) calendar dates have done so incorrectly).
The problem is that there's really no evidence that the Mayans, as a whole, actually believed this, and there's considerable evidence that they did not. It's also ludicrous to think they had anything other than a rather shaky mythology to base this on, if they did think so.
The Mayan "long count" running out of dates is, in the long run, not really any more significant than your car's odometer "turning over" to all zeros. Cars do not automatically explode when this happens; the world won't end. It's essentially just like midnight after a Saturday, when the calendar goes back to the beginning of the week and starts over again with Sunday.
there is no concrete evidence that something catastrophic will happen at the end of 2012 and destroy the world. the only indication that something might happen is the Mayan calender thingy.
pretty much, it's your call on what you believe right now, and we'll all find out if the world does end on 2012 or doesn't. There's not much we can do about it besides wait.

There hardly isn't enough proof resulting to it being around december. That is only for those whom believe 2012 will end the world; which is too false. There is a day when the earth is going to come to an end and for various reasons. But that day is extremely far from now and will most definitely not randomly happen un suspected. It will be a gradual process that will take plenty of time and there are very many teams keeping track of the earth at the moment.
When will the world end according to Hinduism?
the world is divided into 4 eras : SATYUG, TRETAYUG, DWAPARYUG, KALYUG.
Time of each era is half the age of previous era. So Kalyug time is half the period of Dwaparyug. Hence world will end on completion of time of KALYUG. Lord Krishna said that Kalyug will work only for 5000 years which started on death of Lord Krishna whereafter there was heavy rain for 7 days. How many years Kalyug have completed is still unpredictable.

In my opinion, I think there will be a World War 3. See, right now we are in debt by several trillions of dollars with China. With this bad economy, we cannot afford to pay them back. They will get frustrated and start demanding things from us. The US, thinking we are all "big and bad" will say no. China will probably start something. So, I have a feeling that Japan and maybe Germany will side with China. Iraq, already hating us, will side with China too. India, not liking Muslims, will side with us and take out Iraq. Europe will probably stayout of it but eventually join in and side with us. Canada will join if they like. I'm not sure about Russia and Africa though. But you never know. It could happen or maybe not...

World War III is not as likely since the collapse of the USSR. China has no intention of starting any form of conflict that they could not win outright. The problem is that if nations side with warring factions (Iran vs Israel, India vs Pakistan), we could have the same scenario as before World War I, when a small conflict escalates into a global one.

Jesus described the signs that would come just before and during the end. Wars and rumors of wars, many more natural disasters than usual, world-economy and global monetary system, increased technology. The bible also said that the problems will start in the holy land (the middle east) These are the highlights. But when the disciples asked exactly when he answered that He did not know. Only the Father in Heaven knows the hour. So we are not supposed to know when. There is no proof that says the world will end in the year 2012, however many of the prophecies are slowly coming true. But do not worry, God loves us all. But he won't return until its time to go out of earth like 2195 or something.

Why do teenagers think they are alone in this world and end up killing themselves?
Because mankind is too sentient for their own good. We have too much emotion and difference in thought. Jealousy, hatred, revenge, money, religion, status... ALL of these are simple reasons for some people to just go ahead and pull the trigger. Not everyone has the same mindset that killing is bad, and certainly people that do kill are not afraid of the following consequences themselves (otherwise they wouldn't commit such an act in the first place). Why did September 11th happen? Religion. Why was Kennedy assassinated? Someone just plain and simple didn't like him. Why did Richard Kuklinsky kill so many people in his life. Money (and greed). And there are many people who have fantasies about killing...they are mentally predisposed (either from the way they were raised, or possibly genetically) to enjoy killing people. Remember Jared Loughner? The sick bastard who shot Gabrielle Giffords in the head (thankfully she survived) and killed a bunch of others including a NINE YEAR OLD GIRL? Why did he do it? Because he was freaking coo-coo! Look at the guy's freaking mugshot for Pete's sake. Insanity; same reason Cho shot up V-tech and the Columbine shootings. Why did John Wayne Gacy kill little boys and have sex with their dead bodies? Fantasy. People kill each other because without death, life can't continue.

When did world end in Sikhism?
In Guru Granth Sahib, the holy Sikh scriptures, there is no definite prediction of the end of the world. But it does also not say that it won't end.
The thing to remember here, in regards to Sikhism, is god. God is infinite, meaning god has no beginning, nor any end. Such is said about the universe. It is an infinite loop. It is only life that ends. Life of humans for example. But, our souls never end, because they are energies that will merge back with the main stream of energy-- referred by many as god.
The only thing that is unclear, from my gatherings is this. Guru Granth Sahib does have writings in it about Eras. These eras, in any Indian religion, are called Yugs/Jugs.

Kalyug is the current yug, so the current era, and there is nothing written about an era beyond it, stating it is the 4th era of 4 eras. Which means one can determine with his or her own mind, that this could be the last era.
But that is how you see it, it is not mentioned in Guru Granth Sahib.
Who is going to save us when the world ends?
The children of tomorrow would have to save the world. They would have to decide if they shall continue to fanatically follow mythological theologies that perpetuate oppression, terrorism and bigotry or if they will create a new world order of respect, appreciation, virtuousness, decorum, moderation, piety and compassion. The children of tomorrow will decide if they will continue to accept the selfish actions of greedy individuals who continue to pollute and destroy the planet.
