After the 1905 incident called Bloody Sunday, the Russian people no longer thought Nicholas II as their "little father" who worried about and cared for their needs. They realized at last that he was no different than most other monarchs being interested only in his own well being and completely unsympathetic and even blind to that of the country and its inhabitants.

Father Giorgi Gapon, the leader of the peaceful Bloody Sunday procession himself said afterwards, "There is no Tsar."

Who was Nicolas romanov?

Nicholas Alexandrovich Romanov II (Nicholas II) was the last ruler of Imperial Russia. He was the eldest son of Alexander Romanov, the previous Tsar. However, the young Tsarevich wasn't prepared for his eventual correnation. His father was disappointed in is heir, and actually favored his younger brother, Mikhail. Around the age of twenty, Nicholas laid eyes upon the beautiful German princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine and fell madly in love with her. He declared that he wanted her to be his bride and the empress of all Russia. Naturally, his father was once again disappointed by his son, but due to failing health, agreed to their union and the two were married shortly after Alexander's death. Many Russians saw this as an ominous premonition for the fate of Russia. Upon converting to Russian Orthodoxy, Princess Alix took the new name Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova in hopes of winning over her people. However, she was shy and rarely appeared in public, causing a bad relationship with the people, who saw her as snooty and full of herself. The Tsar himself was not a pushy man, and was often chided by his new bride into doing things. He hated the confinement of the palace and felt more at home on the warfront. Nicholas also prefered to adhere to the old ways and was resistant to change. Due to not being properly prepared by his father, Nicholas was incompitent and rule, and his wife was certainly no better. Russia fell into chaos and whispers of revolution began to spread. In 1905, before the birth of his fifth child and only heir, the people marched on the Winter Palace in peaceful protest to ask for more liberties. Fearful of losing his power, Nicholas ordered his troops to open fire on the crowd which became known as Bloody Sunday. After realizing his mistake, he quickly signed the October Manifesto, which granted more power and freedom to the serfs. However, his incompitent rule led to another revolt in 1917, and this one could not be sequestered. The revolution was lead by the Communist visionary Vladimir Illyach Lenin. His bolshevik troops stormed the Winter Palace putting the imperial amily under house arrest. Shortly thereafter, Nicholas advocated the throne. The family was sent to Siberia, and later Ekaterinburg. Though hated by many Russians, Nicholas still had a certain charm about him that made the guards admire and respect him. It was only when he reached Ekaterinburg that the guards were less favorable towards him. He kept most of his thoughts to himself, and he believed that his pain and suffering would redeem the soul of all of Russia. His extremely devout wife saw him as a martyr for his country. He did not complain, but rather held his head high as the people of Russia scorned his name. On July 17, 1918, the family was lead down into the cellar of the Ipatiev House where they'd been kept as prisoners. The bolshevik commander, Yakov Yurovsky read off a death sentence from the Kremlin and the guards opened fire. After 40 minutes of firing, the Romanovs and the last ties to the old ways of Imperial Russia were dead.

Who is the wizard in Anastasia?

I assume you mean the main villain Grigori Rasputin. In the animated movie, he was a mystic and a priest who sold his soul to destroy the Romanovs, based on a real person. However the real Rasputin was not that evil. He did however have a dark side. Many people of Russia did not trust Rasputin, but for the devout mother, Alexandra, he was a beacon of hope. Her son, Alexei, had a disease where his blood could not clot, so even tiny cuts could cause him to bleed to death. Rasputin had a way of hypnotizing the boy and causing his heart rate to slow, and for the blood to not spill out as quickly. The Empress quickly began to depend on him, and always sought his council. The children were taught to trust Rasputin, but the people of Russia despised him, and many political cartoons depicted him violating the Empress and the four daughters. However, Anastasia did not hate Rasputin, and he did not hate her. After he died in 1916 (a year before the movie took place) she showed great sadness, and had a picture of him in a locket. He was believed to be divine by many people, especially concerning his death. He was poisoned, shot, and even fell into a river, but it was ultimately the cold that killed him. Due to seeming to difficult to kill, the assassins believed he had been protected by God or that he had mystical powers.

Were the Romanov killers ever found?

The Romanov killers were always known to the authorities, because it was the authorities themselves (Lenin and the Bolsheviks) who ordered and carried out the killings.

Yakov Yurovsky was the Commandant of the House of Special Purpose, the new designation of the Ipatiev House in Ekaterinburg where the Romanov family was being held under Bolshevik guard. The soldiers assigned to the guard duty obviously were known.

Yurovsky chose the men to commit the murders, assigning each man a particular family member or servant a target. In addition to the guards, two members of the local soviet were also present. Yurovsky made reports to his superiors. All were known.

Pavel Medvedev, one of the soldiers assigned to guard the Romanovs that night gave a first hand account of what happened.

In fact, after doing this heinous crime and regicide, Yurovsky was appointed in-charge of a treasury and gold-mint. He lived long and died in 1938.
