Actually inventions are not a matter of failing or passing. The light bulb is one example. Many of the attempts made to make an incandescent bulb failed. The concept finally got to a sell-able state after many failures.

The concept of electric power that the Edison Company developed never took off either. They were convinced the best power source available was a direct current source. Nikola Tesla's concept of an alternating source is the one we use today. While not a matter of passing or failing, the idea simply never became marketable.

Thier are many storys about how he became deaf. One of those storys includes that thomas Edison was deaf because the conducter of the train he worked on pulled him onto the train by his ears when he almost missed the traiin. However Experts say this is doubtful as his father and son had similar hearing problems and i probally just just a family illness.

This is a hard question to answer, because Thomas Edison never went bankrupt. He once forced a company into bankruptcy, but that was because the company owed HIM money. Edison occasionally lost large amounts of money on investments, including an attempt to modernize mining for precious metals, but he was always able to weather the storm with the income from his inventions.

Thomas Alva Edison was a legendary inventor of many things. From the telegraph and telephone for mass communication to electric lighting with his improvements on the light bulb, Edison's inventions paved the way for many things that humans are still using decades later.

Tesla believed in science for the sake of science, and did not bother with any sort of politics. He died poor and alone.

Edison had a workshop of inventors working under him, all of whose inventions were filed under Edison's name. He was well off from his inventions.

They could be considered rivals, in that Tesla invented Alternating Current and Edison supported Direct Current, two technologies that were at the time competing for dominance (AC won out in the end though Tesla received no benefit from it)

He said many things. One of his most famous quotes is, "Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration" Another is, "I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

He worked hard looking for answers to how to make things work. When he failed (which he did many times), he didn't give up, but kept trying new approaches, eventually finding things that worked.
