lol while I was answering someone beat me to it... oh well here is my answer too... hope it helps..
The sinking of the Titanic was a tragic and very large scale loss of life. Many people died simply because they were thought to be a lower class... they were locked behind bars that prevented them from getting out of the ship while the 1st class was already being loaded into boats that were not full--- more people could have been saved if the boats would have been filled.. Even some wealthy men got into boats before the women and children of the "lower class" were allowed to start boarding. It showed a very ugly side to people.

IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE - THE FOLLOWING MAY SPOIL IT FOR YOU.
Jack helped Rose swim to find something floating in the water to lay on. When they found a door they both tried to get on it but it tipped over. So Jack let Rose stay on it and he stayed in the water and froze to death like everyone else did in the water. She only stayed alive because she wasn't in the water. She could hear someone on a nearby rescue boat shouting, so she swam (to a dead body) and blew a whistle. The rescue boat heard her and saved her.

On April 15th 1912 the Titanic sunk. (It hit an ice-burg in the North Atlantic.) The Carpathia was the rescue ship, she arrived in New Yourk on April the 18th 1912 on the Tuesday night.
In the movie, Rose says to her granddaughter, "Not even your grandfather knew," meaning that her granddaughter's father might be someone else. I doubt Rose would lie to her granddaughter about her grandfather, as Jack was so important to her. She'd didn't want her to know.
Second answer:
I don't think Rose had a baby with Jack. That's why she said, "Not even your grandfather knew," meaning Rose kept Jack from the new husband she eventually married. She went on to say "A woman has many secrets buried in her heart."
