TV and SocietyAlthough television gives people access to some of the finest aspects of our culture, great plays, movies and music, and a wide variety of intellectually stimulating programming, most people spend most of their time watching the most incredible dreck that their minds are numbed. Time that used to be spent reading, or working around the house, or socialising and interacting witth other people is now spent in an endles search for more titillating, more vulgar, ever stupider "entertainment"
Made life easier but at the same time it has caused less physical activity and caused more pollution in the air.
Could arctic tundra accurately be called a frozen desert?
No,because the layer of the soil beneath the surface soil is frozen all the time this layer is called permafrost .
The tundra and desert are two distinct biomes. While they share some characteristics, they are not the same. The only true 'frozen desert' is Antarctica.
During the winter it is very cold and dark, with the average temperature around −28 °C (−18 °F), sometimes dipping as low as −50 °C (−58 °F). However, extreme cold temperatures on the tundra do not drop as low as those experienced in taiga areas further south (for example, Russia's and Canada's lowest temperatures were recorded in locations south of the tree line).

What is the average temperature in the tundra during the summer?
Since it's a rain forest it should be rainy, dark and moist there. The winters are long and cold while summers are short and cool.
What do tundra looks like during winter?
In the arctic tundra there are two seasons: winter and summer. In the summer, the sun is present almost 24 hours a day. This sun however, only warms the tundra up to a range of about 3°C to 12°C. In the winter the opposite light conditions are present. There are several weeks where the sun never rises. This causes the temperatures to drop to extremely cold levels. The average temperature of the tundra is around -28°C while extremes can dip to -70°C.
Precipitation levels in the tundra are from 6 to 10 inches a year. Most of this falls as snow. In many ways this biome is a cold desert, lacking significant precipitation. However, something that many people might find unusual given the lack of rain or snow is the presence of a lot of standing water. This is the result of the permafrost. Each summer, the upper layer melts just enough to create small bogs and pools. The water will not soak into the ground however, because the permafrost blocks it. In the winter these pools freeze and the cycle repeats itself. Very little moisture is lost to evaporation.
Yo...that's what its like....basic summary -->COLD
Global warming and the Tundra COOL :0
With global temperatures on the rise the tundra will undergo some major changes that end up acting as positive feedback on the global warming phenomenon. In the summer plants grow quickly, taking in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, this season normally only lasts for a short period. Before any organic mater has a chance to decay, it freezes again. Thus, carbon from the atmosphere is sequestered and locked in the permafrost. However, with global rise in temperatures, the tundra is releasing carbon back into the atmosphere. It no longer acts as a sink.
because it's so far away from the equator, which is the point at which the sun hits the most
What are some major weather events that occur in the tundra?
Warming of the frozen tundra releasing the greenhouse gas methane.
What bodies of water are near the tundra?
Some bodies of water in the taiga. Some bodies of water in the taiga would be lakes, streams, creeks and a few small ponds that fish and some phytoplankton might live in.
Is Tundra is characterized by cool wet winters?
WINTERS IN THE TUNDRA ARE VERY COLD WITH VERY STRONG WINDS AND EXTREMELY LOW TEMERATURE. THE TUNDRA HAS LITTLE PRECIPITATION AND THE LITTLE PRECIPITATION IS SNOW. tHE ANIMALS HAVE TO ADAPT TO THE VERY COLD WINTERS BUT THOSE ANIMALS NEED THAT TYPE OF ENVIROMENT. A LOT OF ANIMALS SUCH AS RAVENS,FALCONS,AND SNOW BIRDS ALL MIGRATE TO A DIFFERENT ENVIROMENT. POLAR BEARS,BLACK BEARS,BROWN BEARS ALL HIBERNATE AND OCME BACK AROUND IN THE SPRING.
How long do winters last in tundra biome?
