Note that CotDC has released the source code for this product. This means that a skilled programmer can modify the executable in such a way that it may not be detected by anti-virus software.

Don't be too worried, though. This product can be operated by the moderately skilled, but it takes some reasonably serious talent to hide it from AV software. And most people at that skill level aren't interested in committing a serious federal offense simply to peep in through someone's camera. No, a webcam does not have to be for your specific laptop model as long as your systems specifications meets the criteria that the webcam needs(odds are is that your laptop will meet it) The webcam should have preinstalled drivers in it or the manufacturer had a CD inside the webcam's box. If you do not have any drivers, look at the manufactures's website and you might get lucky.
