What should you dress up as on Halloween?
Tourist: Just about everyone owns a Hawaiian shirt. Add some Bermuda shorts, a visor, a camera (or two) around your neck, and sandals on your feet (socks optional). For a funny effect, stuff the butt of your pants for that extra-dorky look. Find or make some brochures and tickets to stuff in your pockets and you're good to go!
Gypsy: Wear your funkiest colors. Girls: layer two or three skirts on top of each other, with a peasant blouse and lots of jewelry. Guys: wear loose pants tucked into boots, with a shirt unbuttoned to reveal several gold necklaces (plus a vest if you have one). Wear a scarf around your head and another around your waist, and boots on your feet (or just go barefoot).
Pirate: Start with a bandana around your head. Boots are very helpful but you can make boot tops by wrapping dark fabric around your lower leg flapped over at the top. Women--wear a skirt with a ragged bottom. Men--either tuck some loose pants into your boots, or cut the bottom into a ragged edge. Wear a loose shirt unbuttoned at the top, with a vest (it's easy to make a vest by cutting up an old shirt). Wrap a piece of fabric around your waist for a belt.
Cowboy: Everyone owns jeans, and chances are good you own some kind of western or plaid shirt and boots. If you can get your hands on a cowboy hat, that's great. Accessories like a gun belt, lasso, bandana around your neck, chaps or vest add to the look.
Nerd: Easiest ever. Just wear your clothes a size too small, with your shirt buttoned all the way up, and pants pulled up too high, over white socks and Grandpa shoes. Add a pocket protector, fake zits, and gel in your hair to make it look extra-geeky.
Superman in a Chuck Norris Costume: Wear the shirt from a fake-muscled Superman costume. Over the top, wear a blue denim or flannel shirt with the top three buttons undone showing the Superman outfit. Add Chuck's beard, mustache, cowboy hat, boots, belt buckle and a star badge. Tell everyone that Chuck doesn't dress up as Superman for Haloween - Superman dresses up like Chuck Norris. Also get plenty of Chuck Norris jokes from the internet to have ready for the night.
Control Freak: Get as many remote controls as you can find, and carry them so they're sticking out of all your pockets. Frizz your hair. And speak with a robotish voice.
Electrocution Victim: Take store-bought latex that can be heated, melted, and applied to the face. Prior to application, put black and red streaks on face. Then, apply the warm liquid latex to face. After the latex sets, apply more black and red on top of the latex. Cut into the latex to form scars, and fill these areas in with fake blood and touches of yellow liquid makeup. Take some old clothes and set fire to them in strategic places (kids get help from your parents with this!!). Rub some of the ash over the clothes and on your skin. Mess your hair up, and set with gel to appear that you have been electrocuted. Walk around with outlet the end on your fingers.
Mr. Monopoly: Wear gray pants, a white vest, red bow tie and black tuxedo jacket. Wear a black top hat and carry a cane. Wear a large white mustache.

But she's recognizable in her anger, cruelty, hardheartedness, and vindictiveness. The difference is the insight into the forces that turn her in that direction. For she is abused by her stepfather, and the widow and children of her lover Fiyero; and unappreciated by those she meets. It's her tragic love for Fiyero, and her commitment to the rights of animals in the lands of Oz, that make her likeable. In the play, Elphaba is much more likeable. Any unpleasantness tends to result from her emotional reaction to adversity, such as the abuses of her stepfather. She comes off as lacking in self-confidence; and more inexperienced, inept, and emotional than malicious and unforgiving. And in the end, she decides to walk away from it all, and start a new life of happiness with Fiyero, outside of Oz. Yes in the Novels; Yes in the play when she has come to see her dead sister she starts to act a little like the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of OZ.
