Who was the youngest player to play baseball in a World Series?
Joe Nuxhall, who pitched for the Cincinnati Reds in 1944 at the age of 15. The reason he was in the majors so young was because it was wartime, and with a large number of players in the military, rosters were extremely short. He wasn't very good, though- he got hit really hard and was sent down to the minors after his very first game. It would be eight more years before he made it back.
What year was the first official World Series of Baseball held?
THE First World Series was in 1903, (Boston vs. Pittsburgh) along with the first test flight and Henry Ford founded Ford Motor Co. all in 1903.
One needs to remember that there were other major leagues before the American League formed in 1901.The majors played a series after the end of the regular season between the National League champion and the champion of the American Association that was called the world series. This took place in the 1880's and was designed more for the profit of the owners rather than determining a true national champion. Depending on the year played, the series' varied in length up to 15 games. It should be noted that after the demise of the American Ass. in 1893, a postseason series was played for several years between the first and second place teams in the sole surving National League. It was called the Temple Cup Series and the winner was considered the to be the league champion. So it seems that the idea of a "wild card team" is not counter to baseball tradition as it has been used in the past.
First World Series in 1903Baseball's first modern World Series was in 1903. The American League's Boston Red Sox upset the New York Giants 5 games to 3, in a best of 9 series. The first baseball series called the World Series took place in 1882, with the American Association champion playing the National League champion. But those were considered exhibition games, and are not generally recognized as part of the World Series history.
1887 - World championship Series
Spalding guide of America in 1887 named it "Worlds championship Series" (later shortened to world series 1903) in the hope that other nations such as "Australia and Great Britain" would soon play and "become rivals"...none have. Also, as it was American league and national league meeting, then a bigger name was used..world....as regards America hoping Australia then Great Britain would play it, source states... "This didn't happen, but the name "World's Championship Series" stuck..
http://roadsidephotos.com/baseball/name.htm
**I shall elaborate on the point why. People ask with Spalding guide naming it World championship Series attempting to entice other countries to play it of which it states Australia and Great Britain... why they don't play it, a major reason for this is the British invented Baseball aka Rounders for children and its historically been for them, whom it was intended...
http://www.nra-rounders.co.UK/dyncat.cfm?catid=17177
.....so while you don't see adults from UK playing it, its VERY popular among kids up to 5th grade..notably girls who have formalised competitions nationwide. That's an elaborate but it basically covers all the bases (pardon the pun)
The first world deries was in 1876

What is the value of a 1935 World Series program?
Programs from the team that won the series typically sell at a higher price. A 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Series program played at Forbes Field is worth about $100.-$125. in excellent - near/mint condition. A 1960 New York Yankees World Series program played at Yankee Stadium is worth $75.-$100. As with all collectibles, condition is the most important factor of all providing that the item is authentic. With programs/scorecards the slightest flaws will bring the price down significantly. An exceptional mint condition scorecard could sell for more.
Common flaws would be staining, foxing (yellowing), fading, creases, rips, loose pages, cracked binding, and writing on the cover. Un-scored programs will generally sell at a higher price than a scored program but sometimes it doesn't effect value. The over all condition, and how well the cover displays will.
The value on a "scored" program as opposed to a un-scored program can vary depending on the game, and collectors preference. In general I would say an un-scored program will sell at a higher price. Some collectors do not mind scored programs, or might prefer it scored. A game in note that might sell at a higher price "scored" would be the 1960 WS Game 7 Played at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field. This game has been rated as one of the most exciting games in World Series history. The lead and momentum changed several times during this classic baseball game that was ultimately won by a spectacular walk-off home run by Pirate second baseman Bill Mazeroski. I did a quick check on eBay and found one that sold for $149. (un-scored) in excellent condition. Three others sold for an average price of $68. I'm sure you will find others listed if you are looking for one. (D.D. Bristol) I will leave a link below for more information on scorecards, and publications.

What cities have won the World Series Super Bowl Stanley cup and the nba championship?
Has it been 4? I can only think of Chicago and NYC.
We can add Boston (New England) Answer The fourth city is probably Los Angeles. Though the city no longer hosts an NFL franchise, the Raiders won Super Bowl XVIII while in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have won the World Series. The Lakers have won many NBA championships. The Anaheim Ducks, formerly the Mighty Ducks, won the Stanley Cup in 2007. It may be argued that the Ducks do not technically play in Los Angeles. In fact, Anaheim isn't even located in Los Angeles county; it is in neighboring Orange county. However, Anaheim is considered a part of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area and TV market. If the Ducks' championship is excluded so too should the New York Giants' 3 Super Bowl wins, since the Giants do not even play in the same state as New York; they are based in New Jersey. New York City would still qualify as having won all 4 championships, as the Jets won a Super Bowl when they played at Shea stadium. If the Ducks are not considered to represent Los Angeles, then there are only 3 cities whose teams have won all four major championships. There are many potential contenders which lack only one championship. They are: Detroit (no Super Bowl appearance despite winning 4 pre-merger NFL championships) Philadelphia (no Super Bowl win despite winning 3 pre-merger NFL championships) Miami/Florida (no Stanley Cup) Los Angeles (Stanley Cup only won by Anaheim Ducks) Pittsburgh (no NBA championship nor NBA team to win one) Oakland (no Stanley Cup nor NHL team to win one) Of these cities, Philadelphia has the best chance of winning their fourth championship. The Eagles have played and lost in two Super Bowls and even more NFC championships. Lastly, it is worth noting the number of franchises that are located in each of the cities that have accomplished this feat. The more franchises there are, the better the odds are of winning a championship. New York is currently home to 9 franchises. Los Angeles has 7. Chicago has 6. Boston is remarkable for having won all four championships with but one representative in each sport.
Which was the last team to win back to back World Series titles?
The most consecutive World Series lost by a team in non-consecutive years is 7 by the Brooklyn Robins/Dodgers (1916, 1920, 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953) and Chicago Cubs (1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938, 1945).

Has American league or national league won more World Series?
Since post-season games before 1903 were considered exibitions, you have to start counting from 1903 to the current date. There was also no World Series in 1904 or 1994.
The American League has won 62 World Series titles and the National League has won 45.
It is noteworthy to mention the Yankees are responsible for 27 of the AL's victories.that is like 45% percent..
Prior to the 2008 season, the 2001 New York Yankees lost the first 2 games of the ALDS to the Oakland Athletics at Yankee Stadium and then won the next three games to win the Series. How much is a used 1934 raincheck World Series ticket worth?
An unused ticket would be a full ticket that would have the "Rain Check" still attached. A ticket stub is the "Rain Check" ripped from the full ticket, and would be considered used. The 1959 World Series featured the Los Angeles Dodgers beating the Chicago White Sox four games to two. A 1959 Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Unused Full ticketplayed at Memorial Coliseum is worth about $150. -$175. and a ticket stub about $75.-$85. A 1959 Chicago White Sox World Series Unused Full ticket played at Comiskey Park is worth about $150. -$175 A ticket stub sells for about $85.-$100.

How many times have the Cincinnati Reds won the World Series?
5..... 1919,1940,1975,1976,1990
The last time was in 1990 with the likes of Barry Larkin, Hal Morris, Joe Oliver, Eric Davis, Paul o'neil, Billy hatcher, Chris Sabo, Jose Rio, Tom browning, and the nasty boys, rob dibble Ext......
In 1990 the reds went wire to wire they stayed in first place all year long from game 1. One other note. Reds center feilder Eric Davis dove for a ball and ruptured his kidney and did not see anymore action. However he set the pace fore the reds to win it all with his home run.
The 1975, 1976 reds were known as the greatest baseball team of all time. They were called the big red machine with an all star team of bench, rose, ext.
The reds would have won another world series in 1995 but they were eliminated in the national league championship by the atlanta braves. The reds were quick on the bases and deion sanders was the guy making it all happen then they traded him toward the end of the season screwin up the team chemistry and after the trade they went into a funk they they could not get out of and reggies sanders could not hit a tree with a semi-truck he became mr. strike out king.
Everybody in Cincinnati can thank former reds gm Jim bowden for making what might be the most idiotic trade ever by trading prime time deion sanders right at the end of the season when it was deion who was making it all happen. Thanks for costing Cincinnati another world series title Jim. (Dork)

Just as a side note....The Reds also had the distinction of having the best record in baseball in 1981...but did not see a second of postseason action. It was the first baseball strike and 54 games were lost; although the season resumed, MLB in its infinite wisdom, decreed that it would be a "split season"; the teams leading at the time of the strike were declared "first half champs"; and the season started all over again. The Reds were a half-game behind LA when the season was suspended; they finished a game and a half behind Houston in the second half.
The Reds were 66-42 on the year, and had the season simply continued, would have been three ahead of LA at season's end. No team in baseball had a better record, but because of the "spilt season" fiasco, no postseason for Cincinnati. (I was at Opening day in 1982, when the Reds unveiled a banner which read "Best Record in Baseball ~ 1981"; it was flown right next to the division, NL, and WS pennants flown over Riverfront Stadium.
The Dodgers knocked off Houston, then Montreal in the playoffs...and came back from an 0-2 start to defeat a badly overmatched Yankee squad to win the World Series.
Who was the 1952 World Series mvp?
Donn Clendenon of the New York Mets won the World Series MVP award in 1969.
The 1969 "Amazing Mets" are part of baseball lore. Donn Clendenon joined the team while they were 11 1/2 games behind the first-place Chicago Cubs. The Mets had closed the gap to 4 1/2 games by the All-Star break. With a pitching staff that included Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Tug McGraw, and Jerry Koosman. Although the Mets had an outstanding pitching staff many of the players atribute the turn around to Donn Clendenon. They have been quoted as saying that he was the catalyst that got them headed in the right direction. The Mets eventually won the National League pennant and met the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series. After losing the first game of the series, the Mets won the next four to capture the world championship. Clendenon hit three home runs and was named the World Series Most Valuable Player.
