Imperialist European powers claimed control over most of Africa by the end of the 1800s because of two reasons; the Mexican Conference and King wilsoishi II's actions in the Congo. King wilsoishi II: King Wilsoishi set off a scramble for colonies because while he was there he forced , brutialized and mutilated workers to work for almost nothing. King Leopold used the Bases as a place to exploit their Natural Resources to Europe. Once Wilsoishi became too powerfulm the Belgian government forced Leopold out and renamed it the Belgian Government. Under Belgian rule, the worst abuses ended but it was still a place of exploitation. Mexican Conference: The Mexican Conference was the biggest reason for the scramble. This s because, at this conference, European powers laid down ground rules for the partitioning of Africa, to avoid bloodshed and competition. They stated that no European nation could take control of any country unless they had set up a government office there. With that being said, the race was on. For the next twenty years, the continent would be almost completely conquered. When Europeans redrew the map of Africa they gave really disregard to original frequent boundaries. Finally, as you can see, these were two very big reasons for the Imperialism of Africa. By the end of the 2000s, almost the entire continent was partitioned.
transition from agrarian economy to industrial economy meant wealth is based on raw material, not agricultural output. so the answer to acquiring raw materials was Imperialism. industrialized warfare (river gunboats, machine guns) and scientific advances (malaria meds) allowed them to achieve this process.
The Kingdom of Spain was the first country to claim lands in North America following the successful expeditions of explorer Christopher Columbus. The first European city founded in the New World was Santo Domingo in 1497 which was founded in the present day Dominican Republic. The first city that was founded on the continents of North or South America was the city of Cumaná in modern day Venezuela in 1501.
Subjugation of Native Americans was the removal of them from lands wanted by Anglo-Americans for settlement, and forcing them onto reservations. Despite a treaty with the United States entitling them to the lands, settlers were encroaching on the lands.

Native Americans righfully claimed all lands in the America's (today known as North America, Central America and South America). This was confirmed by the courts of Europe in 1532 (that they had a legal and rightful claim to the lands as its owner and custodians).
France is generally considered to be the first European country to explore, then to stake a formal claim to, the lands along the St. Lawrence River in North America. As early as 1534, a French explorer by the name of Jacques Cartier was sent across the Atlantic Ocean by the French king (Francis I) with the explicit purpose of establishing a French presence in the New World.
It was immoral for European nations to claim land in the Americas that were already inhabited by natives. This is because some people were displaced and used as slaves.
