Sure could. Also the valve covers.
It could be a head gasket or a cracked head. Look at the exhaust manifold for each cylinder on the side that has the white smoke, the cylinder that has the leak will cause that port on the manifold to get super hot. One way to quickly identify which port is to spray some cheap black (or color of choice) paint on the exhaust manifold and fill the radiator and start the engine. The paint on the bad cylinder will burn off first.
It can be a few things. Have you had a repair done to the engine or the exhaust system lately. If epoxy was used anywhere it can smell. Also raise the hood and look around for something a mouse has dragged into the engine compartment. Can also be a slight oil leak that is burning on the exhaust manifold. Lastly it can be coolant entering the combustion chamber and burning. This is usually caused by a blown head gasket. If you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak this may be the culprit. You need to have this looked into by a professional mechanic. A blown head gasket is serious and will cause severe engine damage.
Fill the radiator up with water then drive the car for a few hours and check it and if the water is down then u have a leak that is one way to tell but that also tell u u have a leak period if not just look at it if it look like water is comeing from the sides of the pump it's leaking you need to fix it or u will run the van hot and blow a head gasket
Gas is leaking into your oil pan. If the head gasket is leaking, it needs to be replaced. While the cylinder head is off, look for a cracked piston or worn rings which may cause gas to leak into the oil pan. If the gasket has been replaced and you had no piston damage or bad rings, then change the oil and filter.
check the coil pack. and look for an internal oil leak either thro the piston rings head gasket or valve guides
no it will not. Bad rings will do it, Valves not seating in the head, Bad head gasket. Burnt piston will do it . These are things to look for.
I have a 97 Ford Club Wagon van. there is anti-freeze leaking from the manifold right above the gasket ( it look like the circle imprint on the manifold. How can this be fix?
there is no gasket on the exhaust manifold. i have a 93 escort lx wagon and i have a leak somewhere and i looked at the exhaust diagram at my local napa and it doesnt show a gasket. * Not sure which diagram you were looking at but there is DEFINITELY a gasket... Look up exhaust manifold on any popular car site and you will clearly see one.
It is common for the intake manifold gasket to leak antifreeze from the corners of the intake. Need to replace intake gasket. Be sure to look closely at the intake were the gasket seals against it for pitts in the intake. There is a heater hose that goes into the intake on right rear corner in the back, but uo on top of intake. check closely. ya, especially if you are leaking antifreeze internally or externally. if intake manifold gasket leaks usually have vacuum problem result in "rough engine idle" look for external antifreeze leak at manifold gasket first. then check oil for "milky color" - if antifreeze runs low due to leak = Yes - engine overheat. Dont drive it - you can do a lot more damage if you do.
The intake manifold gasket is a common problem with the 90 degree GM engines. Replacing it requires you to bring the #1 cylinder to top dead center, then you have to very carefully scrape away the gasket material, being sure not to get any into the intake manifold itself. And you're going to have to look up the torque specs for reassembly. But, the short answer is that you're going to have to replace the gasket. Numerous resources are available online which go into detail on how to do this, or you can get a Chilton or Haynes service manual for that vehicle.
Your erg valve is installed upside down and backwards. The same thing happend to me.
A exhaust manifold that is warped, cracked, or missing a gasket will make a sound like a engine miss. I usually look for soot near the suspected area to tell for sure.
loose or broken connections at coils or alternator, not enough fuel reching injectors, or vacuum leak at the gasket between the intake manifold/plenum and throttle body.
I would think it could be an exhaust manifold leak. Look at the exhaust manifold for a bolt that is missing; then can vibrate loose( Some manifolds use gaskets-some don't). Also look where the exhaust manifold attaches to the exhaust pipe for leaks. Leaks will often leave a black or gray soot mark if they are leaking; and they usually leak once the motor warms up and parts expand. I hope this helps you. Mark
No, if there is coolant in your valve cover it'll be mixed with oil. You blew your head gasket, possibly warped or cracked your head. It may look like coolant is leaking from your valve cover but it's your intake gasket leaking.
i dont know much on cars but my mechanic told me that the oil will leak into the water which causes the water to look milky. It will also cause the car run hot. if it was a cracked head then the water will be in the oil.
