Most definitely! They are better all the way around. Esp. when it comes to repairs. Learning to drive a stick just takes practice.
This all depends on the driver. Yes, a manual transmission does cost less to replace. A manual transmission has the availibility of better gas mileage depending on the drivers decision to run a higher gear whenever possible. Higher gear = better gass mileage, less acceleration....less fun .
In the past a manual transmission equipped vehicle would always get better fuel mileage. But on cars built in the last 5 years that is not always true. There are some vehicles where the A/T equipped vehicle gets as good or better fuel mileage than a manual. Especially cars equipped with a CVT automatic transmission. Agreed, with modern automatics having as many as 9 forward gears and a lock up torque converter that can engauge in low gears the efficiency difference of the past is all but gone.
better gas mileage
If you take two trucks with matching motors, matching rear ends, and matching transmission ratios, the autoshift or fully automatic transmission is supposed to get better mileage of the two. The difference tends to be a bit negligible, however, and the manual shift transmission allows the driver a higher degree of control. One problem with the older autoshifts (the ones with the clutch) is that the synchroniser in the transmission often goes out due to bad clutch manipulation. This isn't a problem in the newer fully automatic transmissions (such as the Eaton Smart Shift, Meritor automatics, etc).
Regular cab, 4 cylinder, with manual transmission.
No it does not. But it does give you somewhat better gas mileage.
You will get lower gas mileage. The tcc solenoid locks up the transmission to get better gas mileage at higher speeds. I suppose it will wear the transmission slightly faster as well, but the main effect is lower gas mileage.

the v8 700r4 its a strong tranny its a overdrive tranny it will give you better Gas mileage
CVT stands for continuously variable transmission. This is the type of transmission that can switch between an infinite number of gear ratios steplessly. In doing so, the CVT provides better gas mileage.
A standard shift vehicle combined with good driving habits can get better fuel mileage than an automatic transmission vehicle.
Better gas mileage and it will pick up speed faster when shifting gears.
