I think they might but im not sure. I know they make small block kits for a V6 S10.
Answer
No. The 2.8 V6 is known as a 60° V6. It shares the same trans bolt pattern as the 3.1 and 3.4 V6 and the 2.5 I4. If the '83 is an automatic then you can use a trans from a 4.3 V6 to bolt to the V8. This comes in handy especially on a swap with 4X4.

Let the length of the shorter leg be L, then the longer leg is L + 14.By Pythagoras then 262 = L2 + (L + 14)2 = L2 + L2 + 28L + 196 = 2L2 + 28L + 196676 = 2L2 + 28L + 196 : 2L2 + 28L - 480 = 0 : L2 + 14L - 240 = 0This can be factored : L2 + 14L - 240 = (L + 24)(L - 10) = 0As only a positive number answer applies and this is when L - 10 = 0 : L = 10.The length of the shorter leg is 10 feet.
can use a threaded rod that matches old bolt threads, that it can reach the bottom where the threads aren't pulled out, if there is none then you need to use a HELI-COIL or thread repair incerts, most automotive supply house carry them, just need a drill an bit the size for incert to do the repair
