How do you snake a toilet in a mobile home?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When you snake a toilet, there will be marks. When you are done, you can scrub part of it away. Most of it will remain and will definitely fade over the next few weeks. They aren't permanant. Scratches in porcelain are permanant so when you snake the toilet, be careful not to scatch the sides as you push the snake in.

wha?You don't snake the toilet, you snake the outside line. wha?You don't snake the toilet itself, you snake the outside line (the tap in front of your house). Plungers are for toilets. answerUe a proper 3 ft toilet snake (closet auger) with a crank, making sure the rubber sleeve is down over the metal end and auger elbow is tucked into trap before rotating snake to protect visible toilet surface. Rotate snake vigorously, while pushing 3-4 and pulling 2-3 at a time, to attempt to move the snake forward without catching and twisting it. These snakes have a tendency to fold back on each other, and the head shows up in the bowl. If rotation is difficult, does the snake have a problem rotating when not in the toilet. It may need servicing or replacing. When the snake is fully extended and rotating easily, it is likely through the bowl and a few inches down the drain. At this point, yanking a pushing very rapidly about 4-6 will often dislodge obstacles in the trap. After doing this several times, a good hard yank pulling the snake right out can be helpful.

Ans 5 - Usually it's much more effective to snake the main line (from immediately below the toilet if possible) Often in homes with unfinished basements or crawlspaces there is a 'cleanout' on the inner end of main drain line. Almost anything in a toilet (with the exception of solid objects like toothpaste tubes) can usually be blown out with a good plunger.

How are double wide mobile homes put together?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Mobile homes are built on an assembly line starting with the trailer-like frame coming into the shop. The basic floor joists are placed in and attached to the frame, then runs of piping, electricity and drains are fitted into these joists. A thick strong membrane is stretched across the bottom of the joists and then insulation is place in between the joists and sealed in by the subfloor which is often K3 or chipboard, but can be plywood in better quality mobiles. The walls are all prefabbed and ready to simply be placed in position and airnailed to the floor and each other. The mobile will now move up the line where the kitchen and vanity cupboards and their respective counter tops are installed. Next will come fitting of tub, sinks faucets, waterheater and their respective plumbing.. Next would be the doors and windows followed by the roof joists then ceilings and ceiling insulation. Now that workers are finished going through the home, carpets and roof will be installed. -This entire process happens in about two days or less. -

I once worked on a Motor Home assembly line which was much the same but a little less complicated. We built 4 versions of large Motor Homes in about 6 hours each. -Two on GM chassis units and 2 on Ford chassis units.

What do mobil home makers call a mobile home frame?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Today's manufactured homes are built with the same building materials as site-built homes, but in a controlled factory environment where quality of construction is invariably superior to what can be done outdoors.

The HUD Code regulates and monitors the manufactured home's design and construction, strength and durability, transportability, fire resistance, energy efficiency and overall quality. It also sets standards for the heating, plumbing, air-conditioning, thermal and electrical systems. The HUD Code also ensures compliance with these standards with a thorough inspection system that takes place at each step as the home is being constructed in the factory.

There are major benefits to having your home built in a factory:

- All aspects of the construction process are quality controlled.

- The weather doesn't interfere with construction, cause costly delays and warp or damage building materials.

- All technicians, craftsmen and assemblers are on the same team and professionally supervised.

- Inventory is better controlled and materials are protected from theft and weather-related damage.

- All construction materials, as well as interior features and appliances, are purchased in volume for additional savings.

- All aspects of construction are continually inspected by not one, but several, inspectors.

How can a mobile home be better insulated?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First remember that the home came with a sheet detailing what the R-Values where in each area, floor, ceiling and walls. This can usually be found on the door just under the kitchen sink in HUD homes. If your home is not HUD certified or you can not find the label, then the next best thing is to add a reasonable amount, based on your conditions. This is best determined using the values found in the International Residential Code or by asking the Building Official in your jurisdiction. For instance, in my area the prescriptive solutions for insulation would be, R-13 in the walls, R-30 in the ceiling and R-19 in the floors. Your values will probably be different. Another good source might be a licensed insulation contractor in your area. They usually know the required values. A word of CAUTION

It may well be desirable to get a specialist in molds to assess the situation.
