Think about it. We've got World War I and World War II in the  1900s. We've also got the Cold War, the Korean War, the Vietnam  War, etc. Lots of wars. Lot's of people. Perhaps you were born in  the 1990s.
As far as I knew, on those days and all, there were severe and  aggression training and education should have been undergone to  become a lawyer.
Women typically didn't work in factories until WWII, except in the garment industries. There was some unionization but not nearly as much as in other industries. Women faced horrible conditions as evidenced by the triangle shirtwaist fire.
