You have a short. One of the wires is grounding out or your fuses are blown. Check the fuses under the drivers side dashboard (by your left knee) with a test light. If you look at the top of each fuse you'll see a number (10, 15, 25...) on either side of that number you will see two strips of metal. Turn the vehicle on and attach the alligator clip to a ground (Bolt, Door frame...). Touch the pointed end to each strip of metal on each fuse. If the test light "lights up" the fuse is good. If not, replace the fuse with the exact number on the new fuse. If you're fuses are good, then you have an electrical short somewhere and you need a pro mechanic or electrician to find the short and fix it. If you find a "Blown fuse" and you replace it and the new fuse blows then you know you have a short. Good luck. check fuses or look for a broken wire
i got a 2006toyota highlander my tail lights dont work but, every other light works please help me
Brake lights and turn signals are on a separate circuit from the tail lights. Tail lights are on the same circuit with the dashboard lights. If the dashboard lights aren't working either, check the fuse. If they ARE working, check the headlight switch.
If the headlights are on and brake lights work but not the tail lights, it is possible there is a short in the electrical wires. Another cause for this could be that the tail light bulbs are burned out. Most vehicles have more than one bulb inside the tail lights to control different lights at the same time.
believe it or not you may haveblown fuse check them.
I suspect either a faulty ground circuit, or a much easier fix, faulty bulb/bulbs. You might be surprised the havoc a grounded out bulb will cause an electrical system.
brake lights dont work
depending on the vehicle, most have a circuit board where the rear lights go in then on to the rear light covers.these tend to go out with time. you should pull the plug and test the wires to see if they have fire. if they dont then it will be the brake light switch located on the brake pedal under the dash. if it does have fire then it is the circuit boards.
brake lights dont work start here check break light fuse check bulbs in tail lights check stop light switch on brake pedal under dash if problem still exists there is a break or short somewhere in the wiring
I am having the same trouble. My brake lights work with the light switch for nighttime driving, but only far right brake light works when i pres brake pedal. Reverse lights dont work at all. Turn signals and hazard light work.
The right brake light does not work on 1999 Ford Windstar. Tail lights and blinking light works. Changed bulb more than once, changed the plug in where the bulb goes but it still does not work. The tag lights are not working either.
change the brake lights check the fuse check the brake light swtch
Possibly a bad alternator (the system is not charging the battery).
