Blown head gasket.
AnswerTry and see if you can identify where the antifeeze is coming from. Start off by checking all your hoses. If one is ripped or torn replace it, then check for leaks again. Odds are your water pump has finally gone out. If you take it to a mech, it will cost about $250 to replace it, $40 for the water pump the rest for time. Changing a water pump on a 92 Pontiac (I assume it's a 2.0 inline 4) is a pain, it's connected to your timing. When you start your car is there a bunch of white smoke coming out of your exhaust? Check your oil as well, if there is coolent in it and/or white smoke then it's probably your head gasket. If you get it fixed remember to change or oil as soon as possible, antifeeze in your oil or oil that has been in your car while it over-heated is going to break down putting your engine at risk.Mine did this and I found out it was the timing belt that needed to be changed.
If it's an automatic, you may have a sticking solenoid INSIDE the transmission.
Check your idle air control valve
Check the engine thoroughly. FInd out where the coolant is leaking. If it's leaking from the side of the block, you've probably thrown a rod and it's stopping the engine and the starter won't be able to turn it.
If your 1994 Pontiac Trans Am randomly stalls out while driving, you may have clogged fuel injectors or a bad distributor. Check the distributor first, as this is the easiest to replace.
rear main seal leaking
ummm... sounds like u probably warped the heads or somthing had a similar problem in my 1994 Pontiac grand Prix SE and now the heads are totally gone, there is about 10 inches of white milky liquid on the oil dipstick (oil and antifreeze mix) or it could be a faulty temperature sensor, might want to have your cooling system checked if it gets so hot it stalls!!
I'm going to go with a cracked distributor cap, especially if it is harder to restart the wetter it is.
maybe its your alternator, if its giving off a weak enough charge, when you put the brake lights on, it drains too much power to run your engine. to check the alternator, start car, and remove the positive cable from your battery with some accesories running. if your car sputters, or stalls, just replace the alternator. hope this helps.
I have same problem.
There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.
is the computer setting a code or check engine light, if not it could be your crank sensor.
