Alexander inherited the hegemony of a united Greece, freed the Greeks of Asia minor and conquered the lands of the Persian Empire including Syria, Afghanistan and Egypt and also the land all the way to Pakistan and parts of India.

He conquered the whole Persian empire including: Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Judea, Gaza, Egypt, Bactria, Mesopotamia, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, Iran, Tajikistan, Pakistan, part of India, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan and extended the boundaries of his own empire as far as Punjab and parts of India. He did NOT conquer Greece, he was hegemon (leader not ruler) of a united Greece!
