The Hapsburg Empire was split up. Austria signed the Treaty of Saint Germain in 1919 which meant they paid reparations, had a restricted army and lost land, such as Bohemia and Moravia to its surrounding countries. Hungary signed the Treaty of Trianon in 1920 which meant they also paid reparations and had a restricted army. They lost land to Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Romania. Such land included Slovakia and Croatia.
