Juliette Gordon Low organized the first American Girl Guide troop meeting in the USA on March 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia. A year later the name was changed to 'Girl Scouts of the United States' (GSUS). In 1915, the organization was incorporated as 'Girl Scouts, Inc.' under the laws of the District of Columbia. In 1950, 'Girl Scouts of the USA' was re-incorporated under a Congressional Charter.
