I messed that up, I wanted to say I am in the middle of replacing my clutch master cylnder on my 1989 Ford Ranger 2.9 5 spd , The bottom hose seems to be a hard plastic with two flared ends that seem inseperable from the tranny and master clyn. I ended up breaking the hose off of the tranny but can not for th elife of me figure out how to get the old section off or flare it again so it will fit. Also I can't find a bleeder for it either ... thank you ...
It is important to bleed a clutch master and slave cylinder to make sure all of the air is out of the lines. For a 1989 Chevy you would need to know model you had, and then find the repair manual for that specific vehicle.
The switch is under the dash connected to the push rod for the clutch master cylinder.
The Clutch slave cylinder is located on the passenger side of the bellhousing.I recommend to replace the Clutch Master cylinder also;if either one is replaced , the other will fail in no time.
You cannot adjust the clutch. It is hydraulic, with a master cylinder and slave cylinder in the transmission. Their are no adjustments. Make sure system has fluid and no leaks.
Clutch master cylinder might be blown out. this is located in the engine bay, the top right.
The clutch has two main parts; the master clutch cylinder and the slave cylinder. Follow the line down from the master cylinder to find the slave. Most of the time the slave needs to be rekitted or replaced and then bled. That should fix it.
How do you replace the clutch slave cylinder on a 1989 jeep wrangler
There is NO adjustment, You must replace the clutch set to bring the pedal back to the right position. You also need to make sure the clutch slave cylinder/ master cylinder is good before replacing clutch assy.
Firewall, Drivers Side. Its pretty obvious, same spot as 99% of cars.
if your talking about the transmission dipstick...there isn't one on a manual transmission vehicle...you check the clutch master cylinder, it's just like the master cylinder for the brakes, but for the clutch...if it's low you can use DOT 3 brake fluid, or hydraulic clutch fluid
Your 89 SHO has the same cable operated clutch as my 90 SHO. With a cable, there is no fluid and no master/slave cylinders for the clutch.
