It sounds to me like your gas float in the tank has a crack in it and gas has leaked into the float, I had a problem with the same year and on mine the float was full and the gage always showed empty. I removed the assembly and manually moved the float so it should show a half tank and it did, moved it to full and it sowed full. Then I uncliped the float from the assembly and shook it and it was full of gas. If I remember right the float from a Ford dealer was under ten dollars. I've got a 1989 e350 winnebago. Mine showed empty all the time. The float was full of gas. Mine would also "run out" of gas with about 15 gallons left. Turns out the in tank fuel pump on the assembly was also shot. Found a complete replacement assembly for about a hundred bucks. If yours is a 460 engine with a 36-40 tank, the number to search for is E2071S.

How do you replace fuel gauge sending unit 1988 ford bronco?

First un hook your battery completely, and make sure your tank is nearly completely empty, makes the job easier. Drop the gas tank, take the high pressure fuel lines loose ( you need a special tool you can get at your local auto parts store) un hook all the wire from the sending unit there is a locking ring you will need to loosen with a hammer, and maybe a screw driver. then the sending unit will pop right out, un fortunately you have to replace the entire unit. $$$ This is a good time to clean up your tank and maybe coat it with under coating or spray paint it.

What could be the cause of a fuel gauge not registering in a 2002 Buick LaSabre?

maybe fuse or the sending unit. hope that helps

Can someone tell you where the thermostat is located on a 2002 Saturn L200 the car has intermittent heat although the temp gauge stays the same maybe low coolant?

The stat is located at the lower end of the top radiator hose within the water outlet. If coolant is not low replace the stat. I hope this helps you. Mark Befor you go taking the thermostate and all the coolent out of your engine check and see if one of the sending units is not working one is for the temp to open thermostate the other is for the gauge. cheaper to replace sending unit

Why the oil pressure gauge don't move its possible that the oil pump is bad or maybe a blown fuse is an Isuzu rodeo 1995?

try changing your oil sending unit first there is no fuse for your oil gauge drive safe

Sending unit is new so why does water temp gauge not work on 99 marquis?

sounds like your temp switch is bad you will need to replace it. Maybe the thermostat is stuck open and the engine never heats up. <- even if the thermostat is stuck open the temp gauge would register heat it would just take longer for the engine to heat up for it to register.

The fuel pump was replaced and the gauge those not work now why?

It sounds like maybe the wires from the sending unit were knocked loose when the tank was replaced. Going to have to pull the tank again.

What would case the fuel gauge on a 1995 Honda Civic to act erratic?

Maybe bad sending unitBad/Damaged fuel sending unit. Bad/damaged wiring. Locate the wires of the fuel sending unit at the fuel tank and unplug them, see if that makes the fuel gauge to be stable (may be up all the way of down all the way, but must stop moving). If the gauge still acts erratic chances are your wiring is wring of finally (but not common) the guague itself on the dash it's damaged..

How do you fix a broken gas gauge with a gas light that stays on most of the time even when tank is full?

Sounds like you will have to replace the sending unit that is in the gas tank with the fuel pump. This is the electrical unit that has the float on it. When you fill your tank the float moves and tells your gauge where the level is at. You could aways hope that maybe the plug is loose at the tank but unless someone messed with it and broke the plug clips in the past that is unlikely. If you have over 100,000 miles and decide to replace it you should go ahead and replace the fuel pump too while your in there to keep from having to do it down the road later on. Hope this helps.

Why is it when you put in 10 gallons of gas the gauge only shows your tank is half or maybe one quarter full on a Nissan 240sx 1989 coupe?

Sounds like your fuel gauge sending unit is bad. The sending unit will have to be replaced as a whole. It is located in the fuel tank and may or may not be part of the fuel pump itself. New vehicles have the sending unit and the pump as one whole unit. Sometimes you can access the top of the fuel tank by removing the rear seat and removing the large grommet or cover. Good luck.

1986 ford pickup i replaced the thermostat and water pump and it still gets hot what could be wrong with it can you help me thanks?

maybe try flushing the cooling system, or replace temp sending unit.

Where is the wire on the oil pressure sending unit on 99 GMC Suburban that sends the pressure to the oil pressure gauge I think mine has come undone because I don't get a read out on the gauge?

stand over your engine from driver side. look behind your kinda under your / maybe directly beneath your distributor. if its undone youll see a bare plug if not a ruber cable
