Well, what do you know, it was the key. Its simple key with no sensor but over the period of time it got bend a little so ignition sensor stopped recognizing it. Locksmith came and made new key and Whola, it got started. He fix the existing key and is starting every time now.
So check the KEY also.
AnswerOne thing I would try first is to make sure the steering wheel lock hasn't gotten stuck. Try turning the wheel back and forth a bit to make sure that it is all the way locked. Another thing to check is to make sure the vehicle is in park. Some vehicles wont allow the vehicle to start unless in park or neutral. Worth a try.there is only one mark and one pointer
I have the same problem, going to have a locksmith make sure its the ignition switch and cylinder and just not a key problem or a tumbler problem.
hello thanks for welcoming me can i install an electronic ignition in a wall furnace that is standing pilote thanks jean
You would need to rewire them. They should be on with the ignition in the accessory position.
you need to find out what that fuse protects and look for a grounding condition in the wiring or device. Somewhere there is a 12volt wire touching ground or a component has burned out is is doing the same. sounds like a short in the ignition swith test or replace ignition switch
When the cylinder was replaced, did you get new keys for it also? Using a worn key has this type of symptom regardless of the cylinder.
It's probably either the keyswitch or the ignition coil resistor (if it uses one) It could also be a coil connector or faulty wire. I'd also check the two small wires that are bolted to the coil on the positive side. One is hot only when the ignition key is in the start position. The other is hot only when the ignition key is in the run position. Check to see if you have voltage there with the key in the run position, if you don't, check continuity of the wire itself, then check the ignition switch, wiring harness plug (drivers side, just below brake master cylinder) and everything else in the ignition circuit.
Check the interior fuse box. Often the fuse will be blown. This happened to mine and the fuse kept blowing and i had to replace the ignition switch. thanks
Go down to the local Advance Auto and pick up an ignition switch #S77($13.48) and a ignition lock cylinder #LC14($5.93). With a little work and a whack on the counter the cylinder will go into the switch. (Thanks for helping, Eric!) Back home, use a slot screwdriver and a hammer (there is actually a tool for this I'm sure) to remove the retainer for the ignition from the dashboard. When it comes off the switch is loose. Drop it out from the dash and remove the plug. Plug in the new switch/cylinder setup, slip it into place in the dash and spin the retainer back on. It will probably require the help of another person to hold the switch in order to tighten the retainer down so the switch doesn't spin as you once again use the slot screwdriver and hammer.
make sure the spark plug wires are on the correct plug
check your inside fuse panel. look for ignition fuse. should say ing.
I am trying to remove the ignition switch of a 1991 camry...Someone tried to steal the car and damaged the keyway...I purchased a new ignition switch but is having a difficult time removing the old cylinder...Is there a "trick" to this task? I 'd appreciate any assistance...Thanks Several tricks--- first remove trim around instruments---then pop off trim ring around ignition switch---unfasten upper and lower steering column covers--remove upper--get about 12 in of 1/8 brass rod---bend a 90 angle about 1/8 long on one end.---unfasten light ring and move out of the way---put key in ignition and turn to ACC position--the release button is about 2in in where switch says LOCK--slide tool in and use the tool to depress the pin (which you cant see) the lock should pop out---key must be in new cyl in ACC position to put new one in---for this they charge $150 If the key doesnt work you have to drill out cylinder and use screwdriver to turn too ACC position.
