Check to see if the stop lights are working--most use common circuit to control shift lock. If lights are not working check stop light fuse and switch.
Try turning the key to "1st" position (unlock) without starting vehicle, then shift to neutral to start. Might work as a temporary "fix"

Try mooving the steering wheel back and forth. This should release the car from park.
If your gear shift is locked into park, but the car stars and won't go into reverse, try unlocking the steering wheel. Turn the wheel back and forth to see if it remedies the problem.
On top of the steering column, there is a small access cover. Pry that off with a small screwdriver and underneath there is a bypass that you can press to shift the car back to Park.

The steering wheel should be locked when the car is in park. Move the steering wheel a bit then see if the key turns.
The reason to gear lock in park mode is so you're car wont roll back if your parked on a hill. If your e-brake cable snaps, the car will stop itself from rolling because its in a gear lock. Just make sure when you start you car to keep your foot down on the clutch until you but your car netruel.
