Has the fuel filter been replaced?

CHECK FUEL PUMP REGULATOR, I HAD THE SAME.
The Fuel Pressure Regulator is located on the fuel rail. The fuel rail located next to the engine valve cover. The fuel pressure regulator line needs to be de-pressurized prior to replacing the regulator. This may be accomplished by removing the fuse for the fuel pump while the engine is running. The engine will stop once fuel pressure is lowered.
NO. When a engine is running it makes it's own vacuum. That's why there is no vacuum hose on that year regulator. It is inside of the engine.
If you look at it you will see a vacuum line hooked to it, while the engine is running unplug it and the engine sound should change. If it don't then the regulator is bad. You can also hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel line and read what the pressure is while engine is idleing and then unplug the regulator and the fuel pressure should go up a few LBS. If not replace regulator.
if your pressuere is curently 105psi then you do have a problem, the pressure should be no mor than 70psi with city water and 60psi with well water. before replacing you should try adjusting the regulator that you you have by putting a gauge on one drain cock and running another. as you are doing this hold the center adjusting screw while loosening the lock nut on top, once you have loosened the lock nut you can tun the center adjusting screw clockwise to lower the pressure. if the pressure dose not go down then the regulator will need to be replaced

HI, All of my info and my garage tell me that the voltage regulator is part of the alternator. That's also what I found when I replaced the alternator on my '97. I hope this solves your dillema and yours is running soon. Steve H.
I think you're running super rich ( common Z problem ). Most likely a problem with your AFM and not the fuel pressure regulator. I've got a 76 Z myself. I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator.
Malfunctioning emissions system. Get this repaired. Engine probably running rich from a leaking fuel pressure regulator. If there is fuel in the vacuum line the regulator is bad.
