Entertainment in Ancient Egypt

Egyptians spent their spare time doing a wide variety of things, and many of these activities are shown on the tomb walls. Dramatizations were held in the temples, but the most important source of entertainment & relaxation was the Nile River. Activities on the river include fishing, river boat outings, swimming, hunting crocodiles and hippopotamuses, and boat games where two teams of men in boats with long poles, would try to push each other into the water. Hunting in the desert was another great pastime, especially for the noblemen. Men first hunted on foot; however, by the time of the New Kingdom, men used horses and chariots.

Nowadays :

Entertainment in Egypt is varied to some extent and is considered much varied on the arabic

scale . Some of which are :

1- What's Egypt is most famous for : monuments , examples are the Pyramids and the Sphinx , Cairo Tower , Egyptian Museum , Islamic Museum , Coptic Museum , A lot of temples in Luxor

and Aswan , .. etc .

2- Many cities on the coast of the Meditteranean

as Alexandria and Marsa

Matrouh

, others on the coast of the Red Sea , and all have great resorts .

3- A lot of cinemas with both Egyptian and Foreign ( mostly American ) movies on .

4- Music and concerts , Music Genres are not that much varied .

5- Theaters for plays { not so common } .

6- Shows in circus { from time to time }

7- A lot of shopping {fashion is not of course the same level as Europe or America }

8- Clubs ( by membership , and clubs in Egypt are places where you can do sports , meet friends and eat out , especially on the Nile )

9- Boats and restaurants in the Nile

10- Not many live shows or festivals or things like that

11- Opera House

12- Books , however reading is not so popular
