How long after appendix surgery should you wait until you go swimming?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well if you're on antibiotics I'm assuming you have an infection. Some infections (like swimmers ear or mono) can spread very easily in water. Stay out of the water until you not only feel better, but are done with your medication. Make sure you take every pill exactly as your doctor tells you to (you'll just get sick again if you don't).

How long do you have to wait to play sports after having arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a small tear in your meniscus?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I had surgery because I tore my acl, mcl, and my meniscus. It has been about two months now and I am hoping to play golf soon. I have been told you can play golf after two months. Running begins at 4 months post-op. If rehab goals are met, sports are allowed 6 months after surgery, however you will need clearance from your doctor prior to resuming sports.

Tell me more about the gastric procedure?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Gastric bypass surgery is a type of surgery that makes the stomach much smaller, and it allows food to bypass part of the small intestine, hence, the name, gastric bypass. A gastric procedure is a serious thing to undergo. After you get the surgery, you will feel fuller much more quickly. Your stomach might have felt one way at its original size, but it will feel fuller by eating less after the surgery, and this will reduce the amount of calories consume. Fewer calories are absorbed, and this results in weight loss. This is a great cure for some people that have had morbid obesity before.

Who are the best gastric bypass surgeons in the us?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This is a hard question to answer. This is such a common surgery in the US these days that the amount of surgeon related errors are very low. You should check out a site such as obesityhelp.com it has ratings on surgeons and unbiased reviews from all over the world not just the USA. Did you know this surgery costs $35k in the US and 90% of insurance companies do not cover it! You should look into having this surgery abroad in a country like Mexico or Costa Rica. The hospitals are almost twice as nice as the hospitals in the US. Also majority of the surgeons have much more experience than surgeons in the USA primarily because both countries have been doing this surgery longer than it has been approved in the US to be done. You could save over 60%! Good luck in your decision.
