From China.A very old Chinese piece of writing describes the game being played there and the Han dynasty were avid followers of the game.

Answer

"Soccer" was created in 1863 but the evolution of Soccer or "Association Football" can be traced back hundreds of years to a ball game known as "Shrovetide football". The word "football" is from the English language and from early medieval times the term "fote-ball" (first recorded c.1400) was used to describe a 'ball game played on foot' not necessarily with the foot. Early football games were not only played by the English but also by other European peoples groups under different names with localised innovations. Other forms include Irish "Caid" meaning 'Ball' the ancestor of Gaelic football, Cornish Hurling "Hyrlîan", Welsh Hurling "Cnapan", "Knattleikr" a Viking ball game. A game called "La Soule" meaning 'The Ball' was played in France), "Ba" pronounced baw meaning 'Ball' played in Scotland and "Ball play" or "Playing at ball" or significantly "fote-ball" games played in England. These medieval ball games are the ones from which all modern football codes evolved and the Shrovetide ball game referred to as "fote-ball" is the version from which all modern football games take their name. These games may have evolved from a game played by the Romans called "Harpastum" which itself was an adaptation of an Ancient Greek game called "Episkyros" or "Phaininda" which, dating back to at least the 4th century BC, is the Worlds oldest known ball game that matches the medieval definition of football. It is worth noting that Harpastum was later recreated in 16th centaury Italy as "Calcio". Although there is a strong possibility the Roman and Greek ball games evolved into Shrovetide football and other similar ball games played in Europe as yet there are no verifiable connections. The Ancient Chinese also played a game called "Cuju" that dates back to the late 3rd centaury BC which has similarities to Association football. However, despite attempts by FIFA to infer an historical link between Cuju and Association Football there are no connections between Cuju and early ball games played in medieval Europe.

The creation of Soccer: For century's football was played by various different rules in Public school and villages in the UK. Then in 1848 Cambridge University attempted to create a standard set of rules for Public schools. Two former students of Shrewsbury School Mr. H. de Winton and Mr. J.C. Thring organized a meeting at Trinity College, Cambridge with 12 representatives from other schools namely Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Winchester and Shrewsbury. In the eight hour meeting these men created what became the 'blue print' for Soccer. These rules became known as the "Cambridge Rules" which unlike "Rugby School Rules" (1823) favours a game in which the ball would be kicked more than carried. In 1863 a solicitor from Hull called Ebenezer Cobb Morley wrote an article for Bell's Life newspaper promoting the idea of a new regulatory body for football. This led to the formation of the "Football Association" whose main aim was to standardise the rules of football nationally. This new code was to be based on the Cambridge Rules. The 'Laws of the game' for Soccer or Association football were drafted by E. C. Morley along with other founder members of the Football Association. They agreed the rules at a public house called the Freemasons Tavern in London on 26th October 1863. Morley became the Football Associations first secretary. He also founded the Barnes Football Club in 1862 which he captained against Richmond football club in the first ever soccer match. The game ended 0-0 but in a return game he scored the first ever goal. He died in 1924 and is buried at a Cemetery on Barnes Common not far from where he drafted the Laws of the game at 26 The Terrace, Barnes, London. A blue plaque commemorating his life's work was placed on the wall of this address by English Heritage in 2009.

Entomology of the word soccer: The word soccer is a phonetic abbreviation of the word 'Association' coined by English public school students who took the 'soc' from 'Association' and put an 'er' on the end. That is why prior to 1863 the word soccer did not exist. It is probably worth noting the same students called Rugby football 'Rugger' but this word fell out of use.

How many players on a field during a U7 soccer game?

It depends on the league. The FIFA Laws of the Game simply say that the number of players is one of the rules that youth leagues can change at their discretion, so different leagues use different numbers of players.

What is the best brand of soccer cleats?

the best cleats are usually nike or Adidas. whatever you do, do not get synthetic cleats. they rip apart easily and make you have weird first touches. The best kind to get is kangaroo leather. both nike and Adidas have them. newer cleats now have first touch spots which definitely help so I recommend looking for those.I would have to say adidas F50s

It is ludicrous to say that one brand is always better than another brand. To be fair; all manufacturers make cleats that are lower price as well as the upper price range. You can find great cleats in all brands: Nike, Adidas, Diadora, Under Armour, Asics, Pele, Puma, Umbro, Lotto, Joma, Pirma, Warrior. Trick is to TRY THEM ON, to get a feel for what is comfortable for you. You will probably find that leather boots wear better and after a short while will conform to your foot better than a synthetic. Before you buy, go to a few local Soccer stores and get imput from the sales people as well as try on a few pair.

How many players on youth soccer team?

At ages U6-U8, US Soccer/Canadian Soccer recommends playing small-sided games of 3-4 players per side.

As the players reach the U9 age, they will often play 5 aside up until they reach U10-U12, where it becomes 8 aside (1 Keeper + 7 outfield players).

Roster sizes are limited to a maximum of 16 players once you reach the U11 age group as this is the first "Select" level teams come into play. Once the players reach U13, the team will field a full 11 vs 11 (1 Keeper + 10 Outfield players) and this continues on through College and Adult programs.

What is the average salary for an American professional Football soccer player?

David Beckham is by far the highest paid Football player in the MLS... He earns over $500,000 per week at L.A Galaxy.

Women's is $40,000 and men's was $85,000 a few years ago.

I think the question is a little too vague. There are various levels of professional football in the United States, and the level of pay differs according to each. Many players in MLS, the US's first division, make less than $50,000. Freddy Adu has the largest contract, at a base salary of $300,000 with incentives to guarantee him at least $500,000. But it's hard to say there even exists a median salary, because there are so many different levels.

What are the health and physical benefits of playing Football?

Football will build your leg strength and increase your concentration span. It is a great way to get in shape. Answer Football builds up strength and endurance in every part of your body. It increases your cardiovascular muscles and decreases your resting heart rate. You also become more balanced by learning different techniques and increases the dexterity in your big stinky feet. Answer From my experiences football is a very recreational sport that one have to be fit to play. I always played forward and its not easy but its a lot of fun. Answer Soccer is a sport of constant motion, with the exception of when the ball is out of bounds, it is a game that is about 90% mental and 10% physical. its easy to just kick a ball around but if you start at an early age you can help your concentration skills...however if you don't have the natural talent you are going nowhere regardless of practice. Also it is a great physical work out, it helps develop your leg muscle and also helps to increase your stamina through vigorous sprints and skill drills. Answer football is healthy for you if you actually play it, instead just kicking a football around. Answer football gives you a cardiovascular workout while working on stamina, strength and endurance. You can build a team spirit and have fun at the same time. It is 90% mental and 10% physical. You can kick the ball around, but it's your mind doing all the work. So through soccer you can build concentration, which really helps if you start young. Answer Whoever thought of the "90% mental and 10% physical" is not correct. It is around the other way ... Answer It is not your mind doing all of the work in football. You have to run around non-stop in football. Your body does way more than your mind. Answer football helps build up respiratory endurance and when you are more active your resting heart rate lowers. So in at least 4 weeks you should tell the difference in your resting heart rate. Also seriously whoever made up the 90% mental and 10% physical is totally wrong it is more like 85%Physical and 15%mental. Answer I've played football before and it is indeed physical. You need to pay a lot of attention throughout in the game. Answer It's true that soccer's 90% mental and 10% physical. If you didn't have the mental part in football you would suck. Plain and Simple. I know this because I've been playing my whole life.

Football require endurance - you can run 14k in a game - but really its based on sheer skill, hence although many American players are supremely fit; none have ever truly made it as only American goalkeepers have been a success in top football leagues such as EPL.

While nfl Gridiron is all about 5 second plays, then getting a rest...and an average actual playing time of 12 minutes in a game,... Football is 90 minutes with over 70 minutes actual playing time so you cant carry fat in football like you can in nfl Gridiron where a 2005 medical analysis found 56% are clinically obese

The benefits are speed, endurance, and quickness. You only get these if you work hard for example run and jump rope.

What are the dimensions of a soccer goal?

The FIFA Laws of the Game specify that a goal should be 8 yards (7.32 m) wide and 8 feet (2.44 m) tall. The posts themselves must be 5 in (12 cm) or less in diameter. Note that these are FIFA requirements. Games played outside FIFA affiliated competitions do not necessarily comply with international standards.

The goals are allowed to be smaller and smaller goals are common in youth leagues. There are no standards for sizing of youth goals and every league sizes them differently.
