Using computers for children's homework (research papers, typing reports, spell checking papers.

Today school children have a library in their homes. Remember the day of going to the library to complete a book report or research project? Having to look it up in the card catalog, then go get the book, find the information in the book and then write it down? Now the child simply goes to the internet, searches in the browser, reads the information and can even save the article to their desktop to complete their report.

The information technology of today has changed the world for virtually everyone.

There is no need for cookbooks (get all the recipes you want, online).

Even phone books are nearly a thing of the past... with the Internet.

Then their is the cell phone... no matter where you are, you can receive phone calls or text messages, even connect to the Internet.

Difficulty reading maps and planning a trip or just need to find the new doctors office? Either go to map quest on the computer and get directions, turn by turn, to print and take with you OR use your GPS by cell phone (if you have subscribed for this additional service). Or buy a GPS for your car or a handheld to take with you.

Watch movies and scheduled TV programs by computer.

Not sure exactly how to make a certain recipe.. watch a video on your computer showing you the exact steps.

Oh, and let us not forget "email"... virtually a new way to receive mail that was unheard of just a mere 20 or 30 years ago.

Then their is the house phone. Remember when it rang and rang and if you missed the call the person would simply have to call back? Not anymore, now you can simply enter * 69 for example to learn who the last caller was, or even simpler, just look at the caller Id on your phone.

Then their are the new stoves, that self clean all by computer program chips, or the oven you enter the item and the desired temperature and the next time you cook that item simply find it in the stoves computer saved memory, press a button and it sets the temperature at the saved previous temperature for exactly the length of time required.

Ah, and let us not forget the " automated operator", no longer a human we speak to but a programed recorded voice that asks you key questions, for which you answer and he/she then responds with the ever constant automated voice or who will ask us if we would like a call back so we don't have to wait on the phone.

We must not forget the now automatated voice on our phone message that informs you that your child was absent from school.

Yes, I would say there are way more ways than 10 that the information technology has impacted my and your life.
