There are two sensors on a 2001 Dodge ram. Input speed sensor and out put speed seed sensor. The first is used to measure torque converter speed and the second is used to measure output shaft speed. The output speed sensor provides the signal for the speedometer over 11 mph. Replacement is the same for both, disconnect the wiring connector, using a deep well socket, remove the sensor, install the new sensor in reverse order. Care should be taken when removing the sensor, Transmission Fluid will come out. This operation should not be done on a hot transmission.
