The following advice on leg exercises is applicable to males and females, alike...

...You need to perform weight lifting leg exercises using heavy to moderate weight. You should be on a high quality weight training program, eating enough calories (bodyweight x ~18) and enough protein (bodyweight X ~1.0grams/lb. of bodyweight), and be getting about 8 hours of sleep per night.

For calf exercises, perform both standing and seated calf raises. Do 3-5 sets x 5 reps of standing calf raises with heavy weight; and do 2-4 sets x 8-10 reps of seated calf raises. Do this (within your overall weight lifting program) 1-2x/week. See link down the page entitled "calf exercises" for more information.

For developing your thighs and butt, you should perform heavy compound exercises such as deadlifts, squats, leg presses, lunges, RDLs or step ups to name a few. Don't bother with leg curls or leg extensions (unless you use them to warm up or cool down). Any good weight lifting routine includes effective leg exercises within it's structure (see links below for "Weight Lifting Program" & "Leg Exercises" for more complete information)

There are 2 main types of muscle-building: 1. Condition training. Build muscles that are small and hard but can exercise for a long time. 2. Body building. Build big muscles made for short but heavy exercises.

Therefore, do heavy leg exercises which you won't be able to stand for long. Like running or biking as fast as you can. Or use a device to lift weights with your legs.

When Weightlifting, use the maximum weight that you can faultlessly lift for about 6 or 10 times in a row.

Without excercise, there is no way. Anyone who tells you otherwise is fooling you. the only way to get a bigger butt and stronger thighs is to eat 2,000 calories a day and run, climb stairs, leg lifts, or ride a bike For you Booty! Do squats. Skip every other step when climbing stairs-try every other two! Get on your hands and knees, with your thighs perpendicular to the floor and lift your leg (still bent 90 degress) so that your knee is higher than your back--remember to squeeze your buttocks as you do this. As for your calves...hmmm I'll get back at this one. =) For your calves, what i did was just jump on the spot (stay on your toes) for 10 minutes, or skip with a jumpingrope or jogging. thast how i got nice big calves without using weights. it works ;) do it 3 times a week minimum. and dont stop! If you can't jump for 1o minutes, what i do is just play a song jump to it then take a break during another song and when the 3rd song starts jump again:P way more fun! Biking, apparently, is also good for your calf muscles! Look into Charles Atlas and what he did with dynamic tension. He became one of the frontrunners of bodybuilding and he stopped lifting weights. He would use one muscle against the other. He used this method because it worked twice as effectively as lifting weights. Its similar to yoga, except for you dont stretch the muscle you work it.

You an only make the muscles larger by exercise. But they are not stronger but weaker as they get larger. Larger muscles may seem great but a guy with large muscles can win a long race.

The best exercice I find is being in a lung position but not returning to a standing up position, just keep squating on one leg until you feel your buns burn, then do the other leg. If you have trouble balancing, you can place one hand on a chair, but only for balance, keep the weight on your upper leg and glute. Calve are easy, just do calve raises on a step in the house.
