How do install belts to a 97 deville?
I am about to the same to my 97 JGC. There should be a wire with a spade plug that was all on it's own. It was plugged into the original stereo. That is the Amp turn on signal and it is a GROUND lead. Wire the Kenwood black wire to this wire with a matching plug and see if the amp turns on. Some people on the INTERNETS! will tell you to run the BLUE wire from the Kenwood, DON'T DO THAT. If the wire is looking for a ground it could damage the amp. Personally, I am dubious about this being a ground. But, if it is seeking a ground and you give it 12VDC from the BLUE wire, it could break the amp. If you give the wire a GROUND signal when it is seeking 12VDC, no damage. Better to try the gounding bit first. If it does not work, momentarily connect the blue to this wire whit the stereo powered up (turn down the volume to about 20% first). It should kick the amp on and make beautiful sounds once this wire is properly connected to the Kenwood. Connect aftermarket harness remote wire to power antenna wire on oem harness adapter. should work fine
The big question is what wire go's where. On my 97 Jeep Wrangler Sport I wired as follows; First: the gray tach wire and magnetic pickup are not used, Second: the heavy red (pos +) and black (neg -) to the battery, the 4 remaining wires will hook up between the coil-pack plug and harness. Cut the plug off leaving enough wire to attach the street-fire (S/F) wires. So let's start with the plug, my TJ colors are solid Gray and Green/Black stripe. Attach the S/F Orange to the Green wire on plug; attach the S/F Black to the Gray wire and plug it back in the coil. On the harness side attach the S/F White to the Gray wire from the harness; attach the S/F Small Red to the Green wire from the Harness. Close the hood and go.
Check your local parts house. You should be able to pick up a wire harness to plug in to you vehicles harness. Alot easier then cutting wires. Check with rental companies. Ryder-budget some will sell the harness also.
Remove the hoses from the heater core pipes and install a short piece of pipe in both those ends. Install hose clamps and it's bypassed.
