If the engine and transmission are in or out of the vehicle...the process remains the same. (In most vehicles it is not necessary to remove the engine to accomplish this. There are a few examples...like the Pontiac Fiero for example). Remove the starter, the transmission and transmission bellhousing from the engine. There will be some things to unplug, or some brackets or mounts to disconnect. Take your time and label the bolts as you remove accessories. After you remove the clutch assembly from the flywheel...the flywheel attaching bolts will be visible...just remove those...make your repair, and put it all back together. Good Luck!
remove the enigine and then take out flywheel bolts
How do you change a flywheel on a Chevy truck? You can remove either the engine or the trans. Once you have either removed just remove the bolts holding the flywheel in place.
Remove the transmission unbolt the flywheel and replace.
No, there is no need to replace the flywheel but it is a good idea to have the flywheel surface machined.
The tranny has to be taken down or just slid back to get to the bolts on the flywheel to take them out and get the flywheel out.
No, and you need the flywheel if you expect the car to move. Timing is adjusted in the distributor, not by the flywheel.
remove starter remove transmission unbolt flywheel
take the tranny out and the flywheel is right on back of the engine, unbolt the flywheel and take it off and install new flywheel with new bolts and torque them down.
You will have to remove the transmission 1st. After doing that then just unbolt the flywheel and replace it.
Yes.
flywheel replacement generally requires removal of the Transmission and Torque Converter .
Pull the motor out of the car and change it.
