If it keeps burning out it may be a bad groumnd. ... going out but not burning out is poor connections, or damaged wiring. The headlights, and most other lights, kept going out in my 1993 Escort because of a dying alternator. Apparently, it was sending too much juice into the electrical system. If you're experiencing similar problems I would suggest checking the alternator just to be sure it's not the same problem. Since I replaced the bad alternator all bulbs are fine and are no longer needing to be replaced every couple weeks or so. I would suggest questioning the mechanic that removed your fog lights. Did they tape the cut wires or leave them exposed?
Your head light switch maybe going out. I have a 94 Dodge ram and my switch went bad. The head lights would go in and out. Autozone, Advanced Auto, Napa have them. You will have to pull the dash trim off, some buttons, and unplug the old swith. Your manual is a good walk through. It only took me 25 minutes to change, but weeks to figure it out.
bad timer or switch check your fuses as well you can take you batteree post off and put them back on to see if it will reset your cumputer brain
When your headlights continue to go out you may have a problem with your alternator. You should have your alternator tested to make sure it is still functioning as it should.
A headlight that keeps breaking may be caused by a dirty or corroded socket. This can make the bulb too hot. A vibrating loose assembly is a possible culprit as well.
the dimmer switch is bad
Answer I had a similar problem when I put a CD player in my 92 explorer. The problem was that somehow I used the hot wire from the headlights. I simply just rewired the power wire and problem solved. First of all I would check the power source. If you didn't use a wiring harness some of the 12v power is discontinued when you turn the headlights on. Using either a voltmeter or testlight check for a constant power source. THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF THIS IS CONNECTING YOU VEHICLES DASH LIGHT WIRE TO THE GROUND ON THE STEREO
This is probably caused by leaving your Hazard Lights on, but may also be an electrical short. Have it checked by an automotive electrical technician if you have tried to turn off the Hazard Lights switch and they still stay on
I just had this same problem with my 1998 VW Jetta. My parking brake light came on one day, but only half illuminated. Shortly after my windshield wipers and headlights stopped working. My radio works but the fans don't work either. I just found a thread which seems to point the problem at the ignition switch: http://car.justanswer.com/volkswagen/6uht-1998-volkswagen-jetta-headlights
anti theft system is bad
I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a short in the wiring. Mine had the Cruise Control located in the steering wheel and when I turned it off...the lights worked fine.
Perhaps you turned on the interior lights when you were adjusting the headlights?
You contradict yourself. If your headlights are staying on during the day, then your DRL are working. What is your problem?
even if you disconnect the battery the headlights stay on????????????? check the headlight switch
Headlights are not to stay on all the time, only front parking lights.
IT'S PROBABLY JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BEHIND THE DASH.
They stay on cause they runnin off the battery. there should be a car headlights switch somewhere by your spedometer stuff...
The taillights are supposed to go on when the headlights are activated.
do the headlights come on automatically or manually, if manually turn off
try a switch
Headlights might stay on in a Honda Odyssey after the engine is turned off because of a courtesy timer. The headlights will stay on for a few seconds after exiting the vehicle so the driver can go into a building at night safely. If the headlights are staying on all the time, check the timer for this feature.
If the interior lights stay on while driving on a 2002 Impala, there could be a problem with the headlight switch. Check the relay center for the headlights that is just behind the headlight switch.
Why do headlight stay on all the time on 2001 suburban
