Gotta diagnose and identify the cause of the problem before you can fix it. Otherwise, you just blow money by throwing parts at it until you get it fixed (if you ever do).
The Blend air door is located inside the HVAC housing under the dash. Dash has to be removed to access.

Blend door actuator.
The blend door actuator motor is located on the bottom of the plenum box on the passenger side towards the transmission tunnel. It is easy to remove and examine the motor to blend door connection. The blend door on the Ram is made of metal and seldom breaks. The problem is more likely the plastic interposer that spans between the metal drive motor connection the the metal axle. Check Ebay listings for HeaterTreater to find the Ram and a 100% solution and more diagnostic information.
FIND THE SHORT TO FIX, IT'S PROBABLY IN THE HARNESS IN THE DOOR JAM.
I have this problem as mine is broken. Here is a site that has a diagram of the whole unit and the instructions on how to fix it. http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/24-004-03.htm
It depends on the model truck. I have a 1500 quad cab and a 2500 mega cab. Both have different fixes for them. The 1500 can be repaired by taking out the glove box and getting to the blend door that way and removing it and then replacing it after pulling the hamster wheel out. The 2500 has to have the whole dash rolled out to get to the blend door. As a dodge tech doing this for money is fine since I make 6 hours of labor out of it but when it is my personal truck and not under warranty anymore it sucks. I wish Dodge would warranty the blend door since they know they don't last and they came out with a fix for it now. The transmission on my 2500 is another thing they need to replace. The new 08 diesels have a new manufacturer for the transmissions.
color codes for dodge ram 4 door speakers?
The most common problem with this system is a broken connector to the blend door. The blend door and axle are metal and the motor drive connector is metal, but in a fit of brilliance Dodge elected to connect these two components together with a plastic connector. When the plastic breaks, the motor will turn past the point where the electronics can sense the position of the door and the motor will appear to be non-functional because the computer shuts it down. An aftermarket replacement for the connector is available. Additional information can be found by going to my bio page.
Most likely it's the blend door. Check heatertreater.net for a full explanation of system operation and potential failures.
Yes it should.
