I just purchased a 2009 Jetta SE and the radio was in SAFE 2 mode. The dealer tried the radio code but could not get the radio to a point to enter it. I read a number of threads and tried many suggestions, leave the car in the Aux mode for an hour, hold down the seek and mode buttons etc. Finally I disconnected the battery waited a few moments and re-connected. I figured maybe this would show me the screen to enter the code but instead the radio booted up with no code and works fine. The dealer suggested I return when the service dept was open, none of the sales people had a clue.
Switch your radio off
Press and hold your AS button , while holding the AS button press the power button
It will automatically ask for the security code
Enter the security code and enter the radio code
You must have the radio code card on your car's documents or car book. If you lost that, you need to go Audi dealer, it's 90$ at the dealer for first time customer. You'll need to submit your vin number to the nearest vdub dealership and have them look the code up for you. there should not be a fee for this service...
LEAVE the car on for one hour, It does not need to be turned on with the motor running. You can have just the electronics on. Safe mode will then disappear and ask for a radio code.
you need the 4 digit code that came with the vehicle s radio maybe original dealer has a record of it
I own a 2000 Audi A6 The battery was changed & I can not find the radio code to release the safe mode My vin # is WAUEH24B2YN010658 Any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou Bruce Klein
I think its kinda simple: If your car takes that long to start...(More than three to four seconds) Get to a Mechanic second to more directly answer the question.. Either the lead to the radio Memory is hooked to the ignition incorrectly. Losses power when turned to the "power Starter" position. OR The battery is so weak that when under load it doesn't have enough "juice" to power the memory wire from its "normal" position. Looking close at the context of your question and taking out the "I Dont know anything factor..." I am guessing it is clear you have an after market radio hooked up and it is not hooked up correctly. See Memory wire in your direction (usually Yellow) or check for a blown fuse or bad wire with an Audi Radio. (installed by the factory) More on "SAFE MODE": ***When you loose power to the memory the radio will stop remembering the CODE...*** This is a safety feature in Audi(s) to reduce the number of radios stolen around the world. Great feature, YES and NO... not many Audi radios are stolen because of it. HEY , When you know something ... PASS it on! D SUPER MECH-NIC
On our '98 Beetle, put in the 4 digit code using the first four preset buttons and then push down the button pointing to the right for 2 seconds. It worked for us! LK
Safe mode loads the Standard VGA driver, its not somewhat a monitor troubleshooting step but rather a step taken to resolve driver issues. If your monitor displays the first part of the boot process then blanks out while loading the OS it is recommended your boot into safe mode to try & resolve display issues.
I have an 1996 Audi Quattro A6 i changed my batteri and my radio went to safe mode. How do i get my radio off safe mode?
You need your operator's folder. In there is a booklet about the radio. it will have a code you need to enter to get the radio out of "safe" mode. the code is unique to each radio and car.
You need the serial number from the side of the radio and also the VIN number. You call an Audi dealership and give them the two numbers and for a $30.00 fee they will give you the radio code to take the radio off of "safe" mode. Lewis Powell

The Code is on the Radio, or in the Spare tirewell! if it is not on the radio, remove the radio, call dealer and give them the radio serial number and your VIN number. Some Dealers like to charge for this, most do not.
Your safe code for your radio is unique to the vehicle. You can go have it reset at an Audi dealership for $20-40 dollars.
My car is a 2000 VW Polo, I just power on and off the radio about fifteen - tewnty times and it comes out of safe mode.
The Radio "Anti-theft" code use to given from dealer ( first owner bought the car) If you don't have or lots the code you only can get the code from dealer. In manual book "Audio Symphony" book have the radio code it calls "Radio card"
the radios have a safety device on them...maybe the battery died once or the radio was disconnected on some point. so it may be in safe mode, call the dealer and give your VIN they should tell you how to activated.
Take the radio out of the dashboard, the code is on the side of the radio.

Turn the ignition to the on position but do not start the engine. Leave it sitting like that for one hour. The radio should then switch out of safe mode and allow you to enter the correct code.
