my name is chris, and i personally am going through the same question right now. i work at don hattan Chevrolet in Wichita Kansas and according to all my shop buddies you loosen the sliding bolt (part of the mounting bracket for the alternator, facing the left sidewall.) and that will allow the alternator to slide. then there should be another bolt pressed against the side of the alternator that when loosened will let the alt. slide towards the engine thus loosening the pulley. your engine pulley will then start to loosen because it wobbles, and when your done just reverse the process.
don't take what i say as a professional, but as an advisory deal, because i spent two hours toying around and trying to fix mine, couldn't find the tensioner or nothing. good luck
DougEngland: Just loosened and removed the alternator belt on my 1991 Geo Storm (as part of replacing the timing belt). Chris's answer does work. Loosen the (12 or 14mm, I forget) hold-down bolt above the alternator towards the firewall. Then loosen the same size bolt (upon which the alternator pivots) below the alternator on the engine side. On my Storm, there is no A/C, so it's just a simple alternator belt, not a serpentine, but I'm sure that moving the alternator closer to the crankshaft will loosen the belt.
it is adjusted throught the power steering pump loosen the adjuster bolts remove belt and reverse
