There is a little slit you'll see when you crawl under the car and look back at the roter. This is a tighting wheel behind the slit. Turn that up or down, in the old cars/trucks to loosen the brake shoes. BE SURE THE CAR IS SECURE, and there is something under the frame in case the jack gives (Be safe!). Then pull the rotor towards you. Sometimes it will come off easy, if not, then you'll need to pull it. If you need a puller, you can also use a tire chain and a small bottle jack. Put the chain in three places equally spaced around the roter. Then put the jack under the chain pushing in on the center of the roter, with the small part of the jack.. Crank the jack up such that the little part hits the center of the rotor (there is a hole). Then it will pop. There are others who might beat them off, but I'd hate to warp it doing something stupid if it can be reused. They were so cheap at one time, I'd just replace them...I dont know about now with the cost of metal.
What it says up above is fine for most cars with rear drum type brakes. But you didnt ask for any specific car/truck. Therefore there could be many different combination's available. (FWD) You can basically use what it says above, except just remove the tire, remove the two caliper attaching bolts, remove the caliper, use a rubber mallet and give the rotor a swat and it should pop off. (RWD) Is alittle more involved due to the parking brake assembly. Get yourself a good book say a Chilton automotive for your vehicle. You must have full understanding of the parking brake assembly, it's very important.
