The manual states that the A/C compressor needs to be removed ( not the hoses) There are no other feasable way to do it, except of course you might try to remove the radiator fan and housing, which I tried and failed, cause the a/c hoses which wraps around the radaitor fan housing can't be moved further. It's a lot less troublesome to follow the procedures from the manual.
I just did mine and it was super easy. 4 bolts for compressor, pull it aside. Loosen tensioner, remove belt. Disconnect wires. Remove front alternator bolt, loosen rear bolt. Tap or pry alt towards front of car. Alternator comes out bottom no prob. Then reverse to install.
To remove the alternator I found that you take it out by just removing the air filter compartment. Unlike the Honda's you do not need to take the front wheel off. Keep in mind that you will have to twist the alternator to a certain angle to get it out. Hope that helps
Remove passenger side Rack and pinion arm and slide out Alternator .
Remove the positive cable from the battery post. Remove the cables from the alternator. Remove the alternator wiring harness. Remove the belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.

Finally, remove the alternator pivot bolt under the alternator to remove the old alternator belt and replace with a new one.
Going on the 3.0 L 4 wheel drive model the alternator is actually removable without removing the axle or lifting the engine as I've read over and over. Remove the bolts on the alternator. Remove the belt. You will likely have to remove the belt assembly in front of the lower mounting bolt. Remove the two connecting wires and viola, easily lifted out. Brush change is the likely option to fix the regulator. If the voltage regulator is at fault, apparently this isn't servicable and the whole unit will have to be replaced.
try taking the bolt out for the motor mount on that side where alternator is and jacking the motor up.
Remove the power steering belt first then the alternator belt will go on.
remove the wheel, remove the brake line, removing the two bolts holding it on and then install opposite of removing.
(1)Disconnect the negative cable from the battery; (2)remove the air cleaner assembly; (3)unplug the electrical connectors from the alternator; (4)remove the electrical connector bracket (if equipped); (5)remove the drivebelt; (6)remove the three bolts holding the alternator to its mounting bracket;(7)installation is the reverse of removal. - Mazda Pickups Repair Manual
Disconnect the battery Remove the engine covers to access the alternator drive belts. Remove the electrical connections from the alternator. Slacken the bolts, remove the belt. Remove bolts, put new alternator on, tighten bolts until you can just move alternator, fit new belt, move alternator so the belt is tight and then tighten bolts to their specified torque.
