Hey Michael==TAke the wheels off and pull the drums off. If they are rusted on, some WD40 and a hammer are helpful. If the shoes have worn groves in the drums and that is what is holding them, you have to turn the adjusters backwards to back off the shoes. Sometimees it is necessary to just pry the drums off and put new springs on when you reinstall them.{But you have ot know how the springs are positioned. You may need a shop manual available at the parts store} GoodluckJoe
According to the 1997 Ford Contour Owner Guide : The BRAKE FLUID reservoir is ALSO the CLUTCH FLUID reservoir
how do you remove thekeeper that holds booster rod on brake pedal
yes they will. in addition to the larger 10 inch drums (should have cooling fins on the exterior of the drums) you will need a set of 10 inch brake shoes.
turn the key to the on position, depress the brake pedal and select neutral
try penetrating oil and wack the axle solid and square right in the center a torch on the drum but not the axle will work to but it usually ruins the shoes
If you're talking about the brake drums, (which need to be removed to inspect or replace the brake shoes inside), they just slide off. First, remove the wheel. Next, wiggle and pull the brake drum (the dinner-plate sized cast-iron bowl-shaped cover) with both hands until it slides off the lugnut studs. Now you can inspect the brake parts.
you have to remove trans pan,and filter will be right there to replace
Remove master cylinder-hopefully there is enough room not to have to disconnect brake lines Remove Brake pedal linkage at brake pedal Remove vacuum line Unbolt and twist vacuum booster to remove
Remove wheel Remove brake drum Loosen and remove brake line Remove mounting bolts Pry wheel cylinder off brake shoes Install new cylinder Replace brake lines Replace brake drum Bleed affected brake line
yes it will
The automatic transaxle fluid dipstick is near the brake fluid reservoir ( going towards the passenger side )
