There are 2 slots at the bottom edge of the trim ring surrounding the radio and the vents -- wiggle a screwdriver into each of them and gently pop the trim ring loose. Work your way around to the sides and top with your fingers and the whole vent/radio trim ring will come away. 3 connectors hold the buttons/clock on, but you have enough slack to get the panel up and over. To remove center air vent s a t20 tool is needed. Unscrew, climate control unit and compartment. After it is pulled away, their vents are exposed. To remove air vents unscrew bolts and pop out of place.
its easy once you know the secret. The plastic cover around the shifter just pops of if you grab the lower part of it and lift up. Then remove the center ac knob an d remove the screw behind it. Then you can pry the whole center part out startign from the bottom again and pulling outward. remove the plugs from all the switches and the clock and then there are 4 ten mm screws that hold in the radio and the two ac vents. remove them and pull the radio out. That's it!
My husband and I fixed ours on a 1985 Toyota corolla. There is a blower motor which was located under/ behind glove compartment, we bought a used one from a junk yard switched then and we had our vents back.
the radio is below the center of the windshield, right below the air vents... If you mean how do you REMOVE the radio then that's another question altogether. PULL out center air vents, REMOVE ashtray, there are 2 bolts there and 2 where you removed the air vent. Remove those and your there.
push the a/c vents in on the top and remove the screws, you will have to look up in the vents to see them, remove the a/c knobs and the screws, pull a/c face plate off and remove four 10mm bolts hold the radio in the dash
It's probably mold. You can buy chemicals that are added through the intake that might fix it.

Easy job on the 2002. Turn the two center air vents down and look inside above them. You will see a screw in each. Remove the screws and the face plate will come off. The radio is then bolted into the dash and can easily be removes. I hope no car radio theives are reading this!

The flap that directs sir to the selected vents is jammed or broken...or the switch that controls it is.
remove the drawer in the center console near the back seats and then remove the cover that has the two small air vents by pulling it towards the rear seats. Will be visible the stud bolt.
Start all the way at the bottom... Remove the cover around the shifter... Easy no screws... The take of the center knob and remove screw... Then gently pull from bottom... I helped it along with a flat screw driver.. Pull bottom first then top... Next remove the 4 bolts under the radio... Two up front and two deep... Then pull radio out... the vents will come with it... again help it along with screw driver in both bottom corners... Good luck

If it is the 1-cd AM/FM player, hit your dashboard, right above the center vents. Hopefully you didn't really jam it in there.

gently pull the facia at the top (above the vents) the are onlt clipped in, the whole facia will then pull forward, you will see four scews beside radio remove them, pull out radio and disconnect rear plugs
If you are attempting to remove the center air vents in the dash panel you will need to: 1. Remove the driver side Cigarette Lighter and the Passenger side Auxiliary plug-in. To do this locate the slot at the bottom on the each of these that will allow you to pop it loose with a screw driver. 2. After removing the panels un plug them and set them aside. You will then see 2 screws, remove these. 3. Carefully pry the panel loose. It will pop off but use gentle force so you do not break the panel. The air vents come off with the panel. From there you can remove them or clean them...
underneath the radio. you can access the amp by pushing up the two vents located near the radio. this will give you access to two hidden screws (located on top of both vents) remove the face plate. the amp should be sitting underneath the radio.
On Passat's 07-09 you need to remove the in dash radio, this can be done by removing the aluminum trim around the console. You must then remove the radio unit using a t20 wrench. After removing the radio unit, underneath the vents, in now empty dash are 2 more t20 screws you will need to remove those as well. using a flat head screw driver or trim removal tool, wedge the flat head between the vents and rubber trim (Like you would remove the radio Trim) the vent should slide out. Careful as the vents are tied to the hazard lights and must be disconnected to successfully pull out the vents.
Fuel level, heat or air conditioning up, both high and low, high only, floor only. Center vents are for air conditioning output only, no heat. Heat is designed to blow out side and floor vents only. NOT center. Center is only for air conditioning or summer vents.
There is not a fuse that controls the air to your vents in your 2000 Toyota. The vents are controlled by blending doors. The doors open and close to direct air to the desired location.
above the stereo, there is the cover look under it and you should see a little button. push the button in and remove that cap. you should be able to see your fuse box. then you will see 4 screws above the climate control. the 2 outer screws are for the vents which is connected to the stereo. take those 2 screw out and use a flathead to pry along the sides of the vents and then pull it out. your stereo should come out along w. the vents. then pop the deck from the frame and you can then change it.
