As a Jeep owner who has redone my exhaust several times. i know all about how to swap out parts and what not. the ebst way to get out your old muffler is by using a sawzall and cutting it on the tail pipe end first. then u cut the front. If you plan on redoing your exhaust more than once you will need a new tail pipe because there will not be enough pipe left to clamp anything too.the whole process takes about 45 minutes. I own a 94 yj. the front pipe is 1 and 7/8 inches in dia. and the rest is 2 1/4 (i think). Just to let you know what i did, i cut out the cat and muffler and put in a cherry bomb and ran a straight pipe to it, and it sounds really good. it cost me about $40 to do that.
