First you have to remove the panel from the bottom of the dash board to be able to get to the steering column bolts. Then, disconnect all of the wiring harnesses from the steering column. After this, go underneath the truck and disconnect the shifter linkage from the transmission. You can then remove the four bolts that hold the column up. Then, carefully slide the column out. Once the shifter linkage is against the firewall, rotate the column until you can pull the linkage through the opening in the firewall.
I remove the left front tire and go thru the wheel well opening with a 3/8" drive spark plug socket and a long "wobble" extension. There is a flat spot on the steering columm, so if you turn the wheel to line that flat spot up, it helps.
NO!
No, it is illegal to remove the SRS from any vehicle you drive on public roads.
Not unless you don't intend on steering.
Look for the indentations under the column as there should be a few Phillips head screws holding it together like a clamshell.
I've never heard of a crack in the column but since it has something to do with the steering, I would have it at least looked at.
Assuming that it is anautomatic And it's just the shifter that you want, at the bottom of the shifter by the steering column there is a pin. Take a punch and drive the pin out.

I remove both front wheels to access all the spark plugs with ease. I also use a standard 3/8" drive spark plug socket along with a 3/8" drive, long "wobble" extension. This combination works for me.
I have a Chevy Blazer 2000 4 Wheel Drive ZR2 The Spare Is On The Back With a Lock How do I remove the Spare Tire Thank You
My 93 has it under and to the right of steering column but it's a right hand drive.
It is possible to drive a Chevy Trailblazer with no power steering. However, it isn't recommended. The steering column could freeze and there could be no way to steer the car.
