hi my name is jose. when i first bought my truck, i didn't know about the steering leak. i was gonna take my truck to a shop, but then my dad decided that we should do it. there fore, we went to this place where they sell remanufactured stuff, and they had it. so we unscrwed the lines, then the 3 bolts on the frame. when it's already on, you must bleed the steering box.
If the power steering box is leaking below the adjusting nut, it is like that the seal is faulty. Replace the seal on the power steering box.
I used Lucas stop leak not a fix but it does work....
Grinding, rough steering, fluid leaking from seals.
I HAVE A 99 250 SD 4X4 . THE STEERING BOX JUST BLEW A GASKET AND IS LEAKING ALL OVER CAN'T EVEN DRIVE IT. I AM GOING TO REPLACE GEAR BOX BUT I KNOW THEY MAKE A SEAL KIT FOR THEM I HAVE ONE BUT NEVER USED IT.
Locate the power steering gear box and drain the fluid. Locate the bolts and remove them. Pull the arm. Detach the steering wheel from the steering linkage. PullÊthe linkage until it dischargesÊfrom the gear box. Loosen the bolt on the gear box and remove the box.
Should be at the lower end of the steering column at the firewall
On a 2001 Ford F150, the turn signal flasher is located in a relay box on the passenger's side of the steering column. To access it, you must remove the panel under the steering column.
rebuild or replace gearbox.
Removing the heater core is a fairly involved process including removing the steering wheel, steering column, dash, and heater box. If the core is leaking, this will need to be done. replace it with a reman unit
over tightened gear box.
The 2002 F-150 owners manual states the fuse panel is below and to the left of the steering wheel , by the brake pedal
