How do you replace a drivers side mirror on a Saturn SL1?
Take the panel off that's inside the door, not the door panel just the little one right even with the mirror. There are then three 10 mm nuts holding it on.
After seeing how the mirror was assembled on the internet, it was obvious that I had to take off the little cover, but I didn't know what washeld it on either. It is held on by an expansion snap, so gently pry it off with your fingers and you won't break it. Then you have the access to the screws holding on the mirror. After replacing the mirror it will snap back into place.

Remove the panel on top of the door panel it's a little access panel that clips on. After doing so their are 3 ten milimeter bolts hoding the mirror to the door. If it's a manual mirror on the drivers side then there will be one screw holding the lever in the panel and u have to remove that screw to remove the mirror.

I actually replace my drivers side mirror. I is a mechanical mirror with the turn signal on it. There is a small triangular door panel piece near the mirror. Remove it and remove the 2 or 3 bolts holding the mirror. Remove inside door panel. Unplug/replug electrical connection. The whole process was quite easy (believe it or not)!
If it is like the 99 SL then open the door, remove the black cover in the corner of the window on the inside. Remove the 3 nuts using 10mm socket, remove black cover, or mirror from the outside. Place new mirror from the outside, put nuts back on the 3 posts or bolts from the inside, replace black cover by firmly pushing back on and you are done. Hope this helps...good luck
