try going to the parts store and buying a chilton manual for the make and model of your vehicle. It has diagrams and step by step instructions. It will cost somewhere around 30 dollars of so and if you ever need to fix any other part of the same vehicle you will have it at your fingertips. I just did my left lower ball joint in my 97 F150. I got the Chiltons and the Haynes books. Haynes is much easier to follow. Hope that helps.
How do I replace the block heater in my 1998 F150 4.6L?
how do i change the ball joint on my 2008 f150
Is the 1997 F150 Transmission is the same as the 1999 Expedition
I don't think 1999 F150 had a cabin air filter option. I have never seen an F150 with a cabin air filter, and all the guys around here I have asked have never seen one either.
No, 97-03 F150's have a 5x135 lug pattern.
First remove the steering knuckle completely from the truck. Then remove any circlips (snap rings.) Then, use a ball joint press to push the old ball joints out and new ones in. Replace any circlips. Assemble the rest. Get the wheel alignment adjusted.
