To replace headlight on 1995 Mazda Protégé
It really does only take about 10 minutes or less. I suggest a mirror to see the assembly. Also have a good flashlight or trouble light.
All directions are as if you are standing on the side of the car, NOT facing the car.
There are tabs on the side of the connector. Push in on the tabs of the connector. Pull gently on the connector, you may need to barely wiggle to get it off. Leave hanging.
Remove large round ring turning counterclockwise, "lefty lucy" (from the back).
Next is the rubber protector. The rubber does pull off, carefully remove it. Note that the tab is on top.
Unhook the retainer clip. The secret is to use the mirror and look for the side that is the "hook" side of the retainer clip. Push the hook side in and up, this is not hard and can be done gently. It is very simple once you have used the mirror and found the hook side. Note that the "hook side" it is on a side, not top or bottom.
Simply push the retainer clip to the side and remove the bulb. The retainer clip does not come off, just hangs there.
Remove the old bulb.
Don't touch the new bulb your fingers, only the connector side. The oil on skin is not good for the bulb.
Replace the bulb, with the flat on top. It is a little tricky to keep the retainer clip back when inserting the bulb but not hard.
Rehook the retainer clip.
Replace rubber protector, tab on top.
Screw the ring back on, "righty tighty".
Plug the connector back in. Test low and high beams.
It really only took me about 10 minutes the first time and 5 minutes the second time (once since I knew what I was doing).
Yes it does I too own a Mazda protege 95 with a 1.5 liter and i had to replace the tone ring on my mazda. I ask what does this do and the shop told me its for the abs. But only the LX and ES model has it.

Which one of the sensors cause the car to putt putt once the car has gotten hot on a 1995 Mazda Protege?
It takes about .9 of an hour to change regardless of which engine you have.(book time) it is located on the distributor, you have to remove the distributor to check it and/or replace it.
