remove plastic around instrument panel . remove screws from instrument panel then pull panel towards you to unplug it this will allow to get to dach lights
I located the instrument panel illumination lights on my 1990 Nissan D21 Pick-up by removing the clear plastic panel that protects the gauges and pulling the instrument panel forward. To do this, screws must be removed from the dash panel located around the instrument panel. There are also screws securing the clock adjustment knob and the glass/instrument panel itself. The bulbs twist into the backside of the instrument panel. There are several of them. I doubt that all the lights went out at once so lets start with the light switch. Either the switch or something on the light switch panel turns or slides to control the brightness of you instrument lights. It can also shut them completely off. So try that first. Next xheck the fuse panel for the fuse marked inst panel. It is most certainly one of those two things. If not you can always have the light switch or the instrument panel tested. Good luck.

The instrument panel lights are controlled by the same fuse as the tail lights which is a 15 amp fuse located in the panel in the engine compartment adjacent to the battery. The fuse is only labeled for the tail lights.

your instrument panel lights can be dimmed(thumb wheel switch) down to practically no lights at all on your instrument cluster, this switch should be located most likely on the dash, left hand side of steering column. If this does not fix the problem ,then you have to check your fuse panel to see if you have a burnt out fuse.
