On my 2000 Mountaineer, One side is accessibly from top. Other side, take off wheel. take off mud covers and access was easy. Not sure if this will be helpful on 97.
The plastic covers usually snap onto the outer edge of the speaker. Using a small pry bar or a screwdriver around the edge should pop it off.
They are located high on the exhaust manifold but not accesible from the top of the engine. Had to shorten a wrench and a lot of hand manipulations with very small turns from underneath to replace them without taking the manifold off. But it can be done.
You have to remove the exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold on starter side. Now you have access. Get exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold gasket first, you will probably need to replace it after taking them apart.
i have the haynes book from auto zone for mine, it has step by step instructions for taking off your intake manifold. i know cause im pretty sure my gasket just blew saturday.....so i been researching it also
It should take about an hour to change the intake manifold gasket. This part can be replaced by taking off the intake manifold cover, cleaning the old gasket off and sealing a new gasket in the space and tightening the bolts. When other things are in the way, like the alternator, it will take longer.
first start by taking the engine out of the car then remove the back bumper then try removing the door then remove the trunk then the exaust pipe then finally you will be able to see the radio in the car remove that and finally take the car to get repaired!!
AnswerIt's under the intake manifold and the knock sensor costs about $120. (It's just a stupid expensive magnet.) I had my mechanic put it in because the intake manifold involves taking a lot of other stuff apart. You'll probably have to replace your intake gaskets too like I did.You dont have to take anything apart all you need is a swivle
you can replace it by taking it to the shop and they will do it for you.
theres no way you can change the head gaskets without taking off the intake manifold, its not hard to do. plus if your going to change the head gaskets it would only be smart to change the intake gaskets also.Answerand if your talking about the exhaust manifold, you did'NT specify, I'm sure you can but it will be no fun at all, plus u should change exhaust gaskets if your going to do all that work anyways so you don't have to worry about them down the road.
no he is taking a physical to go to tna wrestling
If you know where the intake manifold is, you will find the thermostat housing under it after taking the manifold off. You could also follow the upper radiator hose to your thermostat housing.
the intake is the only way.
