It depends on the year. For 2003 and early 2004 models with the cast iron pump cover with aluminum pump go ahead and remove the entire intake to gain access to the pump. For mid 2004 to 2007 models with the aluminum pump cover with the cast iron pump only the turbo, pedistual, and loosening of the y-pipes is necessary. Two of the pump cover bolts under the egr cooler are a little tricky and take caution that the bolts do not fall into the engine this may happen because of the way you need to twist the cover out. Using some trans gel on them helps keep them in place when re-installing the cover. It is common for the 2003-early 2004 aluminum pumps to fail but the mid 2004-2007 cast iron pumps are pretty much bullet proof and don't fail often other then the STC fitting blowing off causing a crank no start issue. Their is an update fitting available to fix this problem. If the fitting blows off hard enough it can and will crack the rear cover causing an oil leak at rear of engine and also bends the branch tube soo bad it is un-useable!! If this happens the easiest way to replace this critical tube is to remove the engine, both heads, rear cover, camshaft lifters and a bunch of other components to gain access.
how do you replace a fitting from a high pressure oil pump that is leaking oil in a 2001 ford F350 diesel truck?
The high pressure oil lines on top of the motor under the fuel and water separator are rubbing together and causing holes
What steps are needed to change a high pressure oil pump ona 03 6.0
Front of the motor right bye the fuel filter

There is actually a low-pressure switch and a high-pressure switch. The low-pressure switch is located on the right side rear of the engine compartment on top of the AC accumulator. The high switch is on the AC high pressure line in the area behind the left headlamp assembly. Niether one is hard to replace, it's self-explanatory when you see them.
You will definitely lose all of your Freon when you replace the high pressure switch. Once the high pressure switch is loosen the Freon will begin to access the system.
The 1996 Ford F2 50 high pressure fuel pump is located inside of the gas tank. The high pressure fuel pump can be purchased from most auto-parts stores.
Remove the high pressure bracket bolt from the pump then proceed to bend the pipe up then down (hammer and long screwdriver or punch required) until the pipe snaps off to reveal the union which is covered by the bracket on the pipe. Once the pipe and pesky bracket are out of the way it is then possible to remove the 18mm union with a flex head ratchet and 18mm socket. Then you can proceed to replace the union with the ford upgraded/improved union and then fit the new high pressure pipe.

NO!
Possible clogged oil galley, filter, defective oil pressure gage, or the use of an oil that is the incorrect weight. Replace the oil filter with a Purolator filter and change the oil. Install 5W-30 oil. If the pressure is still high then you need to have the oil pressure tested with an accurate test gage, to see exactly what it is.
